Well I am in the market to look for a upgrade, of sorts, for a new home. I am in no hurry... which is one of the reasons why I am just checking the areas.

What am I looking for ... a larger house. The BF is staying for longer periods of time with our new pup. Mom has a bunch of stuff (being the pack rat she has always been) and I being the minimalist I am am starting to feel totally closed in.

I have a decent house.. but it is a tad small.. starter home type. It isn't bad actually, but with Mom being my loved pack rat..... I just don't know if I can take it anymore.

So with that said, I am starting the "Scanning". If you have ever bought a home everyone knows that is the first step. Keeping an eye out for prices and of course square footage. We have upgraded this house a bit but the area I am in sells quick and since the housing market here has settled down I think we will do well in selling this house. Now just hoping to get the "One".

Now, I have a question for anyone who has ever bought a new home (as that is one option), I would love any suggestions or just a good story on what you did.

I am also looking into Foreclosures. Anyone ever deal with any of those, I would appreciate any information on that.

If you are wondering... no, I am not going to buy a McMansion. Holy Geez!

I would rather go in with some information rather then blind and ignorant on new or forclosed houses.

Missouri Senator having a panel on 8(a) Native Corps... maybe we should call?

McCaskill is at it again. For a reminder you may want to click on this. But for a quickie.. McCaskill is the MO Senator looking into the 8(a) (aka Native Corps) due to a bill that was passed by Stevens years ago that the Alaskan 8(a) could receive more Federal Government contracts above the 5 million dollar mark. But only Alaska Native Corps were allowed this. The Native Corps are now joing a coalition called the Native 8 (a) Works.

Now why is this funny? McCaskill wants this to stop and is actually going to be doing a Senate panel concerning it on Thursday.

I would keep an eye on this twit. The only reason I say is that you can get a Federal Loan if you are “considered” a minority and have a 8(a) business. How is that? An 8(a) was for those who couldn’t get a loan via the regular banks due to discrimination, or lack of funds in accounts even if it was a good idea. You could be 65 a black woman and show the Federal Government your idea and possibly get a loan and a contract concerning it.

McCaskill is an idiot and she isn’t just hurting Alaska Natives, she will be hurting all who have a 8(a) status.

So, just because I support Palin.. means I am a Palin Bot, Palinista or something of a cult member. Interesting.. but I do think for myself.

Palination is not a cult. It is a group of citizens from across the globe watching the fray of the "Media, Pundits and others" bring down a person due to their character. Why is this acceptable? And why should anyone even try to bring someone good down, when there are many who are not even close? What does it take to get those out who aren't at least observing the laws? And why should we, or anyone for that matter, who uphold the law let those take us down to their level?

If you are noticing that as the Group spreads, it is getting more and more hate put upon it.

I have recently received a few tweets and emails on how I am such a BAD person for supporting Palin. I wonder if these people ever supported anything other then themselves in their lifetime.

Palination of Specualtion and Analogies concerning Sarah Palin need to stop.

Speculation runs rampant. Not with just liberals, but with conservatives as well. It is easy to do, but it needs to cool down due to the overwhelming issue of "rumors" that could be a killer.

Alaskans are uneasy with the transition of opinion. This doesn’t mean they do not support the Governor in her endeavors, as per many a response via ADN. I means that we are concerned about the “Media” that has seemed to come up out of the blue again. Parachuting into Alaska for the second time in less then a year, is weighing heavy on many of us who are use to being alone and not have a National spot light.

When I say the transition of opinion, I am talking about the first wave of anger turned to frustration. It has hit most in a way that was not surprising. But then these people who were “shocked” seem to try to analyze the one thing they shouldn’t be doing. Trying to figure out where Sarah Palin’s road is going. No one expected her to resign, even though there were obvious hints that 85% didn’t pick up in any interviews.

Then there are the analogies of who she is like, such as equating her life with Roosevelt or Tiger Woods. That is one of the worst things that can be done with this woman. First, Roosevelt took land from States and made them “National” which his reasoning was to protect the beauty and to conserve. Now that we have more Federal land in which we can do nothing with (ANWR comes to mind), it makes Sarah Palin look as though she may take something away from the people, which could be more harmful then not putting her under the guise of Roosevelt. Of course the Tiger Woods analogy comes up quite a bit. But what everyone seems to forget on that is that he wasn’t born a natural. He was trained since he was extremely young and became the professional now due to that upbringing.

Sarah Palin has had to work for everything she has ever done. This is not saying that Roosevelt or Woods haven’t. But Roosevelt was a different era and Woods being trained from the start isn’t how Sarah was raised and the era of fundamental rule to conserve and reap what you sow is gone, and has been for decades.

Sarah Palin, raised on family values, hard work ethics (such as having to garden and hunt and fish for food and knowing a job can not provide all), having good Christian values for moral stability throughout her life. These are what many in the United States understand and hope to base their lives on. As some State are not set up the way Alaska is, it is even more profound that an Alaskan Myth of Living has been circulated around, it gives more respect to those who live up here and do understand what Sarah has had to do with her Family through out her lifetime.

As part of the Palination, I ask you to help. We need to not totally stop the speculations and analogies, but to have those who continually start them to calm down and see that it could hurt her later down the road. Let Sarah be Sarah. Tell them to watch for the next few months on the progress of what could happen. And of course try to be civil about it, even though we all know that liberals and conservatives are passionate about Sarah in any degree.

Remember, as the “Media” goes on, we are here to make things right. Not to keep the flames up and start a forest fire of rumors.

If you are keeping track… we are now a “Crowd” not yet a conservative mob, even if you are from another Country.

We have a problem. There are a few people whom do not get the ideals of the Palination. They are continuing the put downs of a good person. I say we email them!

First candidate: Jay Ramras, whom works in the House of Representatives here in Alaska, who is suppose to be working for the People of Fairbanks Alaska. I don’t see him working for the People, he is spouting off at the mouth concerning a Governor who obviously cares more for this State then Jay Ramras does.

What is Palination?

Well it can be termed in many different fields and definitions.

1. Media: Palination is the underscoring of a Political figure, for which the Media can and will find any and all dirt, true or untrue, and bring it to the surface suffice rumors, speculations and lies to be based on nothing. It is the tangible entity of large Media to show the faults of a person who they deem unworthy in the political scheme of idealism.

2. Blog/Pundits: Palination is the putting down those who put a Political figure at the top of the list or those who raise the Political figure. And those who try to take it out at all cost;
a. Conservative Pundits: Try to show both sides of the coin. The good with the bad, as well as the indecisive and ridiculous fray. Occasionally they also show their emotions concerning political career and challenges as well as the frustration of the moment due to the “Media”. Others Pundits put down those who follow their ideals due to difference of opinion. And still there happens to be the Pedestal Pundit, but will not take criticism when needed.
b. Liberal Pundits: This is a two section target. One group will not allow anything concerning Common Sense in the fray and will start any dialogue to bring it down. Then there are those who believe the ideal of liberalism, but have common sense to go outside the box to find the real truth, yet not believe it.
c. Moderate Pundits: Is willing to watch, listen and make up their own opinion without actually getting into the discussion. Yet is swayed by the normal propaganda concerning what “They’ will get out of the Political Figure.

3. Radio: Palination can go both ways and in which these RadioPundits can steer their listeners to go on either side of the coin.

4. People: This is the worst group a most are “Moderates” and have their mind made up without checking the background of the story. Palination is usually due to the “Media” and occasionally “Pundits” who they find a different aspect but the same opinion.

How can Palination be a problem for the future? Many have their minds set for the outcome of the future. This is not as static, as many have found out the past week. Per speculation via “Media”, “Pundits” and “Radio” they have formed a new opinion. Most have flip flopped on issues and depression has set in. This has also formed a lash out aspect where they go after their own.

How can this be stopped: You will now need to be Anti-Palination. You will stop blaming, you will stop arguing with those who are supporters, you will back and support Political Figure that you admire, and you will educate the weak and help with raising the bar.

This is how it is done. This is the mission statement concerning attitude towards the future. We need for this to work!

Unless you want to keep dealing with Cap and Trade, Universal Healthcare…. And loss of energy via the loss of our rights and natural resources.

Only you know what you should do. I implore you to help…. As it starts with one, then two, then four, then eight and so on. What number will you be to be on the frontline?

Talk about a seriously wild start of the week.

Yes, Sarah Palin is stepping down, Sean Parnell is taking the lead… and yet the Lower 48 is going crazy. I won’t even put Hawaii in this mix. What floors me isn’t the fact of what people are saying. Some are mad. Okay I can understand that. Some say it is ruining her political career. How so is what I would like to know? Some are just tired of Sarah Palin… which I say, blame the liberal media and the BS they fling.

How is this Sarah’s fault? We have a bunch of no life Alaskan people who think this is fun and keep filing ethic complaints against her, even as she is about to leave office. It is repugnant and pathetic and I hope she sues them.

But even then, why is everyone in a tizzy concerning Sarah stepping down. She has accomplished everything she promised to the Alaskans. Every last detail to the ‘T’. So why is there a need to freak out? Alaskans that I know are not freaking out. They may be scratching their heads, or shaking their heads. But there has been no lack of support even with Sarah stepping down.

I am waiting on what is the next step she feels the need to take. Where is she going? Will it take days, weeks or months to establish it? While she is on this road, where is Alaska in this mix? How about the United States.. as the speculators are showing their political sides on the next advantage.

But as my questions will eventually be answered, so I am not totally worried about it. I do wonder on what it is going to take for those supporters of Sarah to sit back and enjoy the “ride”? Sometimes it takes something to stir up the pot. And Sarah has done that… in spades.

Time for Term Limits for elected State of Alaska Officials. Who is with me?

What does everyone think of Term limits for State elected officials?

Are you for it or against it? Would you think it be better then having to deal with the same old talking points per Senator or Legislator or would you rather Alaska start having a fresh idea once in a while?

Two terms or Three? Would it be more of a headache or would it be worth while?

Why do I ask? It has come time to get the RINOS, the LIBERALS and those who are not effective at all in any sense of the word, out of office and move some “fresh” blood in.

Can this be done? Yes… with petitions into a referendum to appear on a Ballot.

I want some feedback. Would it really worth the while for Alaska or would it be a hindrance? This can work both ways for all parties.

French is such a jerk. The man is seen in pictures with Obama signs behind him. Tried to mar Gov. Palin’s reputation due to a “in-family” problem with an investigation that he put himself as the lead. The supposed “October Surprise” that never came about. So, Hollis… is this your surprise? Can I say how BORING! Talk about a moment of DUH!

Now, I am not one to vote for someone who talks out both sides of his mouth. French can’t seem to stop this idiotic rhetoric on what he “thinks” should be done via his opinion of Alaska. FYI there Gunny, you don’t think what should be done, you go by what the voters want you to do. You have done well with voting down anything concerning the Permanent Fund and THAT is the only thing I will give you credit for. But as for other items, you sir, can’t seem to stop making yourself look a fool and getting in front of a Camera.

Let us look at the Barak Book, which is an online GOP site that shows those who campaigned for Obama. In plain site we ALL know that French campaigned for Obama WHILE being the lead for the investigation of TrooperGate. I would call this a conflict of interest as Sarah Palin did run for VPOTUS with McCain while this investigation was going on. Also, it has a few tidbits on French… and some interesting articles. But what I think WILL happen is the funneling of money into the possible Campaign via a POTUS whom isn’t doing anything for our Country right now.

Now let’s talk about your Service in the Marines even though all you did was ROTC. Per your Bio on Project VoteSmart.org, Private, United States Marine Corps Reserve Platoon Leaders Course, 1977-1978. You were “dismissed”. You didn’t pass… yet you still put it on your Bio? HELLO! You don’t put something like that in your freaking resume or Bio! Someone who actually served, and I hope it be a Marine… should smack you into next week. You, GUNNY, are NOT a Marine until you get your Globe and Anchor! So Gunny French… what do you have to say for yourself? You were in College while doing this… all I can say is how pathetic.

Ramras... DUH! How dumb can one man be?

Wow, talk about a bad week for the Ramras. Sucks to be HIM! But he brought it upon himself, so I feel no empathy or pity for this idiot but I do feel for the people in Fairbanks, Alaska who voted this jerk in.

I guess that Alaska being in the lime light and having Alaska looked at via the rest of the people in the United States, probably never occurred to Ramras or any other political figure here.. Here is something Jay… DUH! Heck I have been saying it since Sarah was rumored to be picked for VP candidate, that Alaska will be under the microscope even more so then when those who were under investigation via the FBI. Do the Senators and the Legislator’s not think that far ahead? Rhetorical question… we all already know that answer.

Rebecca Mansour, or RAM known on Conservatives4Palin, did an excellent job investigating Ramras’s background via items that are to be handed over to the APOC as Ramras legally is obligated to do. Even the APOC and the Alaska Legislative Ethics didn’t catch it. OPPS! There is no way that Jay, buying all that stock, didn’t know better. Day Trading or not, it shouldn’t matter. Jay got his hand caught in the cookie jar and now he is lying like a 7 yr old about to be punished.

But this is all for naught. I see in the near future that they will be cutting an amendment to the Ethics APOC and Legislative Ethics to make sure that if investigated, that only Alaskans are to be the ones who may be able to file a complaint. I have been hearing rumors, as the Senators and Legislators are in Anchorage eating and they don’t speak as “softly” as they claim. Word to the wise… or at least those who thing they are in the Senatorial and Legislative Seats in Alaska. Try cleaning your backgrounds up! Alaska may be a small State but maybe for those who have relatives in certain “areas” that are a conflict of interest… you might want to move to a different area. Also, those who blatantly do things (like buying stock that they know will get them caught) and then saying that you didn’t want to sell it because it didn’t do well. Get a life. You really don’t think Alaskans and the Lower 49 people are THAT stupid… do you?

I think we should (as in the people of Alaska) vote in the two term rule and law. Anyone who is in Political Power here in Alaska should only serve two terms. And this should be on a Statewide voting ballot. Anyone with me?

The Live and Let Live Alaskan way…. And how Sarah Palin is a true believer.

A lot of people understand the live and let live philosophy that Alaskans live by. But even if they have an understanding they really don’t understand the meaning.

What do I mean? Well it works in many ways in like the Karma philosophy, on how what you do comes back around to you. I call Karma a philosophy as to me it is a common sense ideal. But I digress. “Live and Let Live” is a age old term on how to treat your enemies, here in Alaska. Do you treat them with the same disdain they treat you or ignore them all together and know that they will eventually be treated with the same disdain down the road? The latter usually works better.

Sarah Palin has been treating people this way and you can tell via whom she speaks with and the manner of her posture and attitude. Letterman, is one fine example. Another, which many people may not understand is Bill O’Reilly, whom wants Sarah on his show so bad he can taste it yet still pops off with the asinine remark about her continuously. KTUU use to have a straight path for interviews with Sarah. No longer will she show that case. And the ADN, throws tantrums when they can not interview and publish columns that are just fluff and extremely arrogant.

In Alaska… we don’t go by “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” as we know this isn’t true in most cases. But the live and let live policy or ideal or whatever you may call it, usually shines through true and unforgiving.

A lot of people, especially those who come up for the lower 48, think of the live and let live ideal as how hunters think about the prey and hunt. Yes that is also an avenue that, even I as a hunter goes by. But, the rules of hunting and the rules of personal engagement are two different animals all together.

Sarah shows the live and let live ideal, perfectly. I wish I could do as well as she…. this grasshopper still needs to learn to take the rock. Sarah seems to annoy those who want to do interviews with her or those who are in some type of political power and just want to meet her. Some people seem to think that if she doesn’t do interviews with these “people” that it will make her look arrogant. I honestly think it makes her look smart as she is calculating the people and going off instinct rather then jumping into something that may not come out well.

When you think of Sarah Palin… think of the Alaskan live and let live ideal. And remember… don’t make the Alaskans mad. You might regret it.

Exxon .... let the Tariff problems begin.

Ahhh I see something in the news as a small “news” article, which it really shouldn’t be and should be investigated. But KTUU and the ADN are liberal rags…. and I digress.

It seems that some of the Tariff’s for the TransAlaska Pipeline were a tad too high. Which means that the owners of the TransAlaska pipeline were charging a little too much to let the oil flow through it.

Now why would I bring this up? Exxon, who holds 18 percent of the TransAlaska Pipeline.

This has happened before. In 2001, a hearing concerning the restoration, removing and dismantling of the TransAlaska Pipeline. It also showed in the testimony how Exxon leapfrogged around and supposedly “forgot” to put in to the calculations concerning interest and so on and in the testimony you can see how it was royalties that were held. If you are curious to read… here is the PDF from the Alaska RCA and start on page 134. Also, it is interesting how Exxon in 2006, was unable to meet Crude production (page 53). Why? They owned around 26% .... so who knows.

Not sure about everyone else, but Exxon doesn't do anything for me. Can you tell?

Most Alaskans I know are dumping Exxon shares like you wouldn't believe. It has dropped to 69.05 as of Friday... and doesn't look like it is going back up.

What makes this more interesting is that many don't realize how much Exxon likes to play games. They are notorious for suing anyone who they think or deem an enemy.. and they usually win.

We are going to see more Exxon problems arise. Quote me on this.

Well… fishing sucked. I guess I should have gone to the cabin.

Yes I did see fish, and I had quite a few on. But I had someone’s 12 yrs old boys next to me and they kept flipping over my line and I proceeded to lose every freaking fish I had on. I about went off on the dad of the boys as he didn’t seem to care and on top of it one was just being a shit and throwing rocks in the water. But I stopped myself, even though I wanted too.

Maybe I am old fashioned, but when I was a kid and we went to the Russian with my Dad, if you did something stupid you got out of the river and a stern talking too and probably didn’t fish for the rest of the day. Is it so bad to do that to kids now? Make them stop screwing off if they are bothering and literally being pains in the butt to those around them.

I will have to say it was a beautiful day. Blue sky, warm even for being on the river and a little bit of a breeze and a occasional gust, but all in all a wonderful day.

If anyone happens to go down… the road is still all screwed up around Summit Lake. So slow down and be careful around the gravel parts of the road.

I saw this flicker “pic” and literally started laughing out loud. How DUMB can some people possible be? I have had this name for a few years. I have been on around the blogo-shere for a few years with this name… and people have accused me of being Sarah Palin. But sorry all, I am not.

I do think it beyond stupid that he actually used screen save on this. *Sigh* Did anyone ever think they were speaking to Sarah? Too freaking funny!

So I can’t seem to get any information concerning North Korea. I am sure that Alaska and Hawaii are on high alert as they are vowing Nuclear Fireworks. It is also interesting as Alaska is having a yearly Military Exercise called Northern Edge. This time we happen to have an aircraft carrier in the gulf of Alaska. Hmm a nuclear threat DURING a Military Exercise... Ironic!

Why do I have a feeling that Takotna is going to be called the "Airport to No Where"? Thank God that no one has really noticed it yet.... right?

No, we had the Michael Jackson freak out “HE IS DEAD” BS, and Farrah Fawcett dies and not many say much as she at least tried to battle cancer that ate her alive. Look.. Michael Jackson in my eyes was a pedophile. I feel bad for those three children who he “paid” for. The guy was beyond weird and his obvious drug addiction was showing just how much his life bothered him. I have no remorse for him and if you think I am judging him. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought it upon himself.

But it was a good day. I received a good review on my work and heard from my BF who was out in the gulf, but was going to Valdez to refuel. I am glad he is having a good time.

I am debating on taking Gunner with me either fishing at the Russian or taking him up to the Cabin and checking on the Garden…. Or both. 150 north and back, or 150 miles south and back …. or 600 miles round trip? What would you do? I haven’t decided yet, but either way I am leaving tomorrow after work.

And as for Celtic Diva…. Per Conservatives4Palin who found the photo of the distorted Trig Palin. I don’t even know what to say other then I hope to hell she NEVER crosses my path. It is just disgusting to photo shop a disabled child’s face. It doesn't matter who freaking did it. Here is the picture if you are curious.

I had a cousin who had a severely disabled child. He was more or less born with only a brain stem, as I have forgotten the name of the debilitation. He stayed 2 months old until he died at age 9. His wife and I were both pregnant at the same time. As they obviously kept their baby and even disabled, loved him… I gave my perfectly healthy child up for adoption. Talk about Irony. But what makes it worse, is that my favorite cousin always took care of his son before going to work, went into the bedroom to get him up and take care of him… only to find he had passed away. It was sad as that child was probably the cuddliest child you could ever meet. He loved being held and even though he was obviously very disabled, showed he loved you by holding your hand and rubbing your hand against his cheek. That was how he showed he loved you. I miss that little boy. Celtic Diva really needs to figure out that children, no matter how they were born, are a present from God. And some people can not have children.

Diva, your days are numbered. Maybe that Nuke will land on your house.

Now I have done numerous blogs on this. There is a 4th of July Threat on Hawaii... now they want to wipe the United States of the map? Have they looked at a Map lately?

Ahhh a small earthquake... might Redoubt burp again?

Alaska is known for it’s nice earthquakes and Volcanic eruptions.

We all know that Redoubt hasn’t gone down in magnitude as it is still at “orange”. But with this last earthquake right on the Denali Fault line, it makes me wonder if we are going to get the ash again?

Has anyone in Alaska, noticed that every time we have a small earthquake as of late, with Redoubt on the verge of burping, two or three days later, it does actually blow? Also the serendipitous way that as soon as we have one of these small earthquakes, the AVO downgrades the volcano to yellow.. and within a day, it blows?

Just an oddity I have noticed.

I am going to predict that Redoubt will burp in less then a week. If I am wrong.. so be it!

So, the rumor is that North Korea plans to make it a spectacular event for American’s 4th of July! I didn’t realize that a glow of Nuclear detonation via Hawaii as the impact zone was suppose to be fireworks. Did anyone else?

Per something that biologists never seem to get right. King Salmon is down again this year. Per ADN article, it is about “Global Cooling” and NOT heavy commercial fishing. Yeah right. They didn’t seem to put in there or link that OTHER species of salmon have been coming back in record numbers this year and go out as far as Kings do. And God FORBID it not be the larger Commercial Salmon companies over harvesting. Yes people, they do over harvest.

I roll my eyes as fishery biologists don’t seem to put ALL evidence in for Kings. Cook Inlet area the last few years have been inundated with nasty floods. Even while the salmon have been spawning the water has been extremely high. So when the water finally goes down unless another crest happens, it will scatter the eggs. Anyone else noticing that trout have been in huge high numbers lately? Ever thing that the trout fry are eating the eggs of the Kings? Or the trout eating the salmon fry early in the season? What a concept.

Also, as people are “revamping and redistributing” dirt around areas like Campbell Creek, Ship Creek, Kenai River, Russian River, and river going down south to help the “foliage” to grow back and the soil not to disintegrate into the river, which is NOT working as or soil has quite a bit of clay and sand in it. The topsoil renovation work is probably covering up the eggs and/or fry with a layer of dirt that they can’t get out of as it is not normal for rivers to have tons of topsoil, but has silt.

Last year it was a normal year for Alaska, even if we hated the cold and got use to the nice hot weather we had been receiving for a while.

The biologists are not putting all the variables together. They never do usually.

I have been trying to keep up on the Iranian riots and fights concerning the election.

It looks like the students are getting their butts kicked and in some cases killed. HotAir has been doing quite a bit of coverage on this, which I am thankful for as I have not been able to keep up with everything.

Imagine if something like this was here in the United States. What side would you be on? Would you fight, or flee? Would it make it a difference to you what happened as you are a fence sitter? These are the questions running thru my head, if something like this happened here.

It still amazes me to no end how many people think that there should be a Utopian like society. I do not know of one that has ever been in the history of mankind. There is right and there is wrong. There is good and there is evil. But when the lines become blurred, on someone’s say or their ideals other then a moral ideal then where does the common sense go? And that goes for all people. You can't make a Utopian society without the madness.... Rome comes to mind.

The one link that bothers me to no end was a young Iranian woman whom was shot thru the chest. The perfect shot to kill a human. You see her dieing as anyone who has ever hunted knows that when you kill an animal and have the perfect lung/heart shot, they can bleed excessively thru the nose and mouth. The woman bled and it was coming out of her nose and mouth, you can also tell it was not staged. AllahPundit on HotAir was obviously bothered by it as well. We haven’t heard much of a whisper from North Korea in the last few days. After their initial “threat” to target Hawaii with one of their Paektusan-2 missiles and Hawaii going on the defense. I wonder what the hell Il is doing. Why Hawaii al of a sudden? Does he fear Alaska? Or the Gov.? Makes one wonder.

Russia has been unusually quiet as well. I wonder if they are worried about North Korea as well

Natural Gas and how it shall effect those outside of Alaska, such as Well Owners.

I am not sure how everyone feels about the new natural gas pipeline, concerning TransCanada or Exxon, as many who read this know I do not like Exxon for many reasons.

I and my good friend Rev. Paul decided to do a joint blog concerning this. He gives a good idea of what South Central Alaska is going to be going up against here in the next few years. And the sad part is that it is true. He also mentions things that another friend, explains further down the blog.

But, I decided that I wanted to know more, as I mainly work in oil. So I decided to contact my friend Jim, who happens to own a small but very steady little oil and gas company in Texas. He gave me some insight in how this will not just effect Alaska, but will also affect those who own gas wells across the United States, how it may actually rob more then gas and how it may also be used… as Alaskans will be losing a resource. Jim, wasn’t happy about this merger anymore then I.

Upinak: Jim, I know you are a busy guy. But if you don’t mind answering a small question on the TransCanada/Exxon deal, I would appreciate it.

With this new deal, is it going to lower the price of Natural Gas around the lower 48 now?

I have quite a few people asking me as to what may be the outcome.

There are a number of factors that are weighing down on the US natural gas market, with the Exxon/TransCanada deal being a fairly minor one.
Probably the number one thing is the rapidly approaching LNG issue. Exxon and a number of other internationals have invested many billions in the Persian Gulf natural gas LNG tanker infrastructure recently and Qatar will be shipping huge amounts of LNG later this year. Other projects are coming on line as well. There are huge gas fields in the Gulf, and very little of it has been marketed, until recently.
My friends who are in the gas business (oil and gas people don't get along - they are two entirely different mindsets) are very concerned. This is also reflected in the rapid decline of the drilling boom in the Newark Burnet Shale play in North Texas - the largest gas field in Texas, as well as the anemic state of the spot price of gas on the exchanges..
All this is wearing down the natural gas market and causing a lot of second-guessing. Moreover, Europe is looking for another gas source after the overreaching of the Russians last year. The LNG is expected to supply a quarter of their needs, minimizing the insecure Russian sources and the associated risks of relying on Putin for that critical fuel.
On the other hand, gas has a low profile as far as the Greenie-weenies are concerned (they are much more focused on coal and oil), and our need for it will only increase. But... the short-term pricing landscape for natural gas here in the States is not too good at the moment. The fear is palpable - which is not to say that it is entirely justified.

With your knowledge... do you know what it would take (I am not familiar with tar sands) to use the PSI of the gas to scour the sticky sands, besides just baking them.I was taken back by this... but if you think about it, it makes sense why XOM is getting involved.

Jim: Uppy,

Here is a brief initial description of what would entail.The tar sands are basically just sand, silt and bitumen with some bound water.Bitumen is an old term that stands for any viscous hydrocarbon. The hydrocarbon in tar sands is very viscous, asphaltic (think of a road blacktop) and full of heavy hydrocarbons such as polycyclic aromatics - benzene rings all bound together and very long-chain double-bonded hydrocarbons. Basically, a mass of thick superviscous gunk that you can drive over with a truck - not very useful in its native state.So, they question is: how do we get it to flow? You've lived in Florida, so you know what happens to asphalt after a hot day - it loses some of its viscosity. How can we decrease the viscosity of this tar sand goo? Well, we have used three things" steam, pyrolysis (heating ) and chemical Chrsolvents. All of these require a lot of cost. A ton of standard-issue Athabascan tar sand can produce a rather paltry 20-25 gallons of less viscous black goo that used to be known, back in the Jimmy Carter days, as "syncrude". This goo can then be pumped into the normal refining processes that can fractionate it into useful hydrocarbons.This brings me to your question: can we use the gas within the tar sand to "scour" the sticky sands - a process that would be under the technique known as pyrolysis. The problem here is that there is basically no gas bound within the tar sands, so this gas would have to be pipelined in from somewhere else and then used as the feeder stock to "crack" the heavy hydrocarbon bonds of the gunk. That would be like crudely imitating the "cracking towers" of most refineries.Here is the problem - would it take more energy to free the hydrocarbons in the tar sands than it would be worth? Remember, there is only a half-barrel of prerefined "goo" in every ton of tar sands. There would be a lot of water needed in this process as well, the often toxic residues, which often contain sulfur and heavier metals such as vanadium, would need to be disposed of as well as the often trace radioactive bits of residue from the reducing environment that these sands were originally present in. Ans, of sourse, the still-gooey silt and sand infrastructure of these tar sands.Whether one uses straight pyrolysis or steam heated by the natural gas, there is a lot of additional costs (gas, water, disposal fees and a lot of required refining) as well as useful energy wasted to produce a minor amount of oil. Then there are the CO2 issues that would set off the Greenie-weenies.Compare this with the low "lift costs" of a local oil production, and the economics are not even comparable. Look up the sad history of Jimmy Carter's "syncrude" corporation, which is somewhat comparable. Google "Syncrude Corporation", I believe. It was a multibillion dollar boondoggle. The tar sands are a much better target, but the basic idea is the same - there is a huge amount of lost value and profits, as well as additional tremendous ecological problems produced, when we try to extract solid hydocarbons from matrix rocks, like tar sands or oil shales, to make into oil.I'll send you some more info later tonight and tomorrow.Thanks!

So, there are some “rumors” that have died BUT some interesting insight via Jim on what can happen and will probably be happening. Exxon bringing gas down from Alaska and helping to “cook” the oil sands in Alberta. I knew it had to be more then just Exxon willing to help. Exxon isn’t the type of company to do anything without an alternative, other then money. And talks of Petro-Canada and Suncor merger could be a problem as well.

I have quite a few friends who own land in Texas who have gas wells, in the Barnett Shale. Their checks went from 2500 a month down to 120.00. And I wish I was kidding as they actually showed the paperwork to me concerning their loss, the BTU’s, the PSI, and if they were going to “Frac” or fracture the formation to tap into more gas. Sometimes the gas is considered sour, so it is put on hold until it can be mixed with a sweet gas and then can be used. Barnett Shale is like this quite often. Either way, those people who let the companies drill for gas on their property are screwed as in some cases the gas companies are plug and abandoning these wells.

But Alaska Gas is very clean and rarely turns sour. So much so that small villages that have oil companies drill on their “land” happen to get the gas for heat in their homes, businesses and other places all over the slope. Interesting, isn’t it.

This also doesn’t help Alaskans with anything concerning a Bullet Line from Kenai (due to gas production dwindling) or the fast that a spur line is now on hold via the “Pipeline” talks. Alaskans in south central only have enough resources until 2015 even if used conservatively. This also makes me wonder about UIC, or what is known as Injection Wells. That is where they inject the Wells with the Natural Gas that comes back and cit circulates back into the formation and pool to scour the oil off the sands. Quite a few questions to be answered. There are regulations for natural gas, but will it matter now?

I know this was a long Blog entry. But I wanted to take the time to let everyone know this pipeline is good to a point… but this isn’t the only or best option.

Governor Palin knows this is a start, she did what she promised. But it makes me wonder how much Murkowski is now in the negotiations concerning this pipeline. And we all know he has a bone to pick with Alaskans for kicking him out of the Governors seat.

As I read around and check the blogosphere. I can’t help but notice that somehow (as in someone paid for the information she was requesting), Diva got the information concerning something on Arctic Cat and Todd Palin.

Color me stupid, but how is this news? How is this anything but snooping into people’s personal lives?

It really bothers me that people will go to any lengths to find dirt on other people. Maybe I should go and find out dirt on Celtic Diva’s “problem” and find out why she is considered “handicapped” and then maybe watch her so closely that I can use what she does against herself. I.E. make her lose any and all benefits she has.

But, I won’t. Because Karma is a bitch and I KNOW it comes back around.

So my advice to Diva and others whom are like her is:

1. Eventually you are going to piss off so many people here in Alaska they are going to go after you and your husband.
2. Watch yourself sweetie, you never know when even your Democrat friends will have enough of the BS.
3. And prepare for when you DO have someone take away those wonderful benefits I and other Tax Payers are having taken out of OUR paychecks, to give to you… because you are “disabled”.

Since I know there are some gardeners out there who like to read about my adventures in gardening. I thought I would give you an update.

IT IS HUGE!

I have in right now, 6 of the 10, 4’ in diameter culverts in. I am growing the potatoes in one, multiple different squashes in another, a culvert for JUST strawberries, one culvert has all lettuce that is finally growing in and one for cabbage and broccoli. The last one I have kohlrabi (it is like a radish but not hot), radishes, garlic, and a horseradish root. I am experimenting so we will so how that goes.

As for my tomatoes…. That is a labor of love concerning the big boy’s I have. They weren’t doing so well in the green house so I took them out and they are doing fine. What are growing like crazy in the greenhouse is the yellow and cherry tomatoes which are now blooming. I also have multiple different varieties of herbs in the greenhouse, but I also am trying jalapeños for the Boy Friend. They are doing well, which I was surprised as I have never tried growing them. I have some cucumbers and eggplant as well.

We also decided to take some initiative and start a sprinkler system on a timer, as the Boy Friend and I are both avid fisher people, so we wouldn’t have to worry about the veggies and such dieing if we wanted to do an extended weekend. It has worked out GREAT! We are both impressed with how well it has worked out.

On another note, we both bought quite a few blue berry bushes and currant bushes. Only 2 of the blue berry bushes died… which we expected as they were very small. But everything else, bush wise, is actually producing! Not in huge amounts.. but we were not expecting them to produce anything this year.

Now anyone have any suggestions on how to winterize these nice bushes AND the strawberries? I was thinking some hay and put some plastic sheeting over them so ice wouldn’t kill them and we can take it off as soon as it warms up next summer. But I am open for suggestion!

Also... has anyone ever "planted' seeds and have them winter over? I want to try it with my squashes as an experiment.

Get ready for the Yuan!

What’s that you say? Well since our dollars is now just a piece of paper due to Obama, Congress and our lovely Senate, Russia and China are making a 6 Nation Pact to endorse a new reserve.

Now would that be a bad thing? Not necessarily. Let’s say that we, as in America, get a real President in… and let’s say they try to go back to the gold standard, it could be a small price to pay to be out from under the “Currency International Wars” that are now starting to pop up. When I say small price, I mean that if we switched back to cold hard gold standard, we as a Nation would be forced to cut back everything and have to learn to be more conservative in spending AND in Government. We would also have a recession for sure concerning the switch as a dollar now is not worth a gold standard dollar, as it would be worth more like a five dollar bill rather then a one dollar bill. We would also get more bang for our buck, but you would have to price out the difference. Say spend a dollar for something useless… and you will feel it later. But it would make a lot more sense to go back to what we know is tried and truly works.

That is one reason why I am not against the Pebble Mine in Alaska as well as other mines being developed. As it cracks me up that everyone thinks that it is mainly a gold mine. When actually if you look at the demographics of it…. There is much more expensive and just as highly used minerals in that area other then gold. What am I talking about? Well there is a certain alloy used in aluminum, to make it more pliable and stronger. It is used in variation in car parts and of all things…. Cans we drink out of. The only problem is, it isn’t very well recycled due to the break down when in the recycle phase. This mineral is called bauxite, which is a type of nickel that bonds well with aluminum as it is a aluminum ore. It has been used for years and years in building materials. But when they figured it makes aluminum more dureable it was mined extensively. Other then gold, and diamonds, bauxite is a very highly sought after mineral as it is hard to find areas that are a specialized type. Bauxite is in the area of Pebble Mine. It isn’t like it is Tar Sands… which I will be blogging about later this week.

So a gold standard and Alaska mining for our standard with an added bonus. Sounds good to me!

Iran Riots, North Korea threatening again... And Alaska doesn't have all of it's missiles at Greely yet. Are you scared?

While everyone liberal wise and media wise happening to be wooing over Obama and the dumb healthcare plan that isn’t needed, Iran has had huge and extremely bloody riot due to the election, that seems to have been just like Russia’s a few years ago…. fraudulent. Even AllahPundit from HotAir.com is obviously worried via the multiple threads. I don’t think he is just posting them for traffic either.

And as while Iran is going thru its election fraud and rioting, Kim Jong Il feels left out and has been threatening nuclear promises aimed towards the United States. Oh joy!

And what has the American media done? Barely even batted an eye concerning either Iran or North Korea. Interesting as they are both imminent threats against the United States. But at least the conservative blogs are keeping up on it.

Why does this bother me and should bother you? Because, being that Iran may have nuclear plutonium and possibly missiles, as well and known micro-biological material while going thru a election riot. Or the fact that Kim Jong Il is mentally incapacitated and clearly is showing a side that we should never see… a threat from a country who shouldn’t be threatening that actually has nuclear arsenal.

Are you scared yet? I am sure edgy!

This isn’t just an Alaska item. This is a United States, Mexico and Canadian problem, so a whole continent. The missile interceptors are still scheduled to Ft. Greely in Alaska. But what about the rest of the Nation who has the interceptors to stop an enemy missile coming into U.S. or any other North American Continent?

Exxon and TransCanada…. Interesting development today.

Ok so now that Exxon has “bought in” with TransCanada on the LNG Pipeline to go into Canada and further down, now what? What I am curious about is what is the percentage of Exxon into this pipeline? Personally I am thinking 35-45%, or they wouldn't do it. What is the contract with each other? How much is each going to get depending on the design, amount, rotation of profit, measurements on engagement, the actual cost, the ratio of cubic square liquid to actual cubic square gas. I don’t know about you but something sounds… fishy.

And what bothers me even more is the Spur AND a Bullet line off this. Denali better get on the ball and fast if it wants to be taken seriously.

I applaud Governor Palin on this as the Gas Team and the AGIA Team worked hours taken away from Family and such. But I don’t trust Exxon…. In any capacity.

Exxon is notorious for sitting on things, letting it brew I guess you can say. The appeals of the Exxon Valdez spill almost 20 yrs says quite a bit about the company, as many fishermen and villages are STILL waiting for the money in which the Exxon Valdez took from them via subsistence. Also sitting on PT. Thompson Unit and sitting on it for over 20 yrs now until just recently via a suit from the State of Alaska, makes one wonder. The excuse was that the oil wasn’t viable enough to connect and since the gas would be trapped and not be able to go anywhere, and they as a company would lose money on the wells and leases. So rather then do anything, they just sat on it. Tisk Tisk Exxon!

Exxon is also not an oil and natural gas company that drills. They usually pony on another company after they buy leases for land and the pony company does all the work, so to speak, so while the pony company gets the oil, Exxon usually goes for the gas. I wonder why? Exxon doesn’t actually own any equipment… that I know of. It reminds me of an investment company if anything. Yet since it does partially own wells around the world, it does make money, the highest ranking in the world.

Now someone pointed out something significant to those smaller individuals whom own gas wells around the United States. How is this going to affect them? Is this going to spike gas prices and stock? Is this going to lower gas prices and is the stock going to spike? Or is it going to lower gas prices and stock now? Too many variables and I am not an economics guru. How will this affect UIC (Underground Injection Wells) wells since the North Slope uses the natural gas to re-inject back into the formations? Will UIC wells stopped being used or will something like CO2 be used instead?

Also... just for those Alaskans curious. What do you think the Legislature will do with the new found "monies" coming in from any of the LNG pipeline with the now non-stranded natural gas which up until 2005 was concidered "confidential"? Do you think it will be put into a different PFD type for us, or do you think it will be put into a "fund" for spending? I think the latter as we all know our Legislature. I hope AGIA gets a say and does the RIGHT thing.

Another thing about Exxon, they are notoriously sue happy. Read this about Exxon suing in 1983, a PIPELINE COMPANY.

You don’t feed the dog that bites you, especially if it bites your kids … aka the Alaskans. Most people I know would put that dog down. This is something new.... and I am not just leary, I think Alaska is about to get shit on by Exxon.

So I am checking messages and someone tells me to go look at what the Immoral Minority wrote about a Shooter at a museum. But even before I read about David Letterman yesterday or Immoral today... I was having chest pains into my neck. Now my Dad died of heart problems and my Mom has them, so yeah I was a tad worried. I went to the Doctor and had it checked out today. I am having severe neck spasms that the muscles are spasming into my chest. Well, interesting how that works ... as it is from a whiplash injury I had that I never had taken care of years ago, from a car accident. I didn't shows signs of whiplash or shock so I wasn't sent off. But it was a bad crash, and my only one due to conditions on the road and a moron who didn't know how to drive. But that was then. If you ever realize that you have problems, it may be due to old accidents. I am just glad it isn't about my heart. And I am getting all the other stuff ran too.... including my thyroid I have been putting off.

I don’t know where you are in the United States or the World, but I want to know how much your gasoline or diesel is where you buy it.

As of today.. gasoline where I got it was $2.71. Up now to 50 cents what it was 6 months ago. This is starting to worry me as most of those whom have to pay for heating fuel are going to be spending like they did this last winter. And we don’t even have our Alaska fuel tax back on yet.

John McCain and the rest of the goons, voted down again the drilling of ANWR. Why? What is the purpose of not drilling it now? I think McCain is trying to get back at Sarah in my personal opinion. I feel for Lisa Murkowski, our Alaska Senator, who is trying like you wouldn’t believe to open it back up. Begich, the worthless and former mayor of Anchorage didn’t do a damn thing but sit on his butt, and probably tried to persuade others to oppose it. What a waste of tax payers money Begich is, even after he said he would help with the energy crisis. I guess voting on a stimulus was his way of helping.

BUT if you read up on ANWR.ORG you might see who is supporting ANWR and who is against. This organization has quite a bit of good information and is PRO ANWR, not just drilling it. But you will never hear that from Greenies. Who BTW, are actually the people who leave crap on the North Slope, when they do their "research". It is known among the Oil Companies that they have to have a group volunteer on almost every pad to go pick up the garbage left by the greenies. Nice huh!

What is the deal with people and saying off the wall, totally tasteless things about Sarah Palin, much less saying things about her children?

David Letterman, as most of you heard today, said some crude things on his top ten list and then went on to say that Sarah’s daughter was being knocked up by A-Rod. Well, I guess Dave and his writers, didn’t realize that Sarah had her 14 yr old daughter Willow with her. I guess they assumed it was Bristol, the eldest. Also, it wasn’t just totally tasteless, it was totally disgusting to even mention that.

I seriously hope that CBS and the CEO’s figure out what to do with this retard. Yeah I am saying retard, because it is true. He is a complete idiot, and even those whom are mentally handicapped are smarter then this idiot. Let's put him down, like the dog he is. CBS... time to get rid of some of your feces.

Per Conservatives4Palin, the trig toofers are at it again. Why? What is the damn point in it?

It is a Child. It doesn't matter if the child is disabled or not, it is still the fact it is a child. And who in their right mind would "fake" a pregnancy this day and age is beyond me.

I give it completely due to mental disorders that they are prone to or have had. They could be the type for Neonaticide. But no, these women fake a pregnancy to receive attention. I don't remember ever seeing Palin using her pregnancy for attention, ever. Does anyone else?

How exactly is that an issue or a problem in Alaska?

Well to get a in-State Natural Gas pipeline/bullet line/spur line you HAVE to go thru some Federal Forests. This isn't just the pipeline from the slope. This is also the proposed Nenana pipeline to Fairbanks. THAT will be a huge problem!

What does that also mean to Alaska? That they will not have much option for a pipeline or a road, as you have to bury a LNG pipeline, unless they go along the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which even though it is going thru Federal Lands, it will still be considered State.... I hope.

Why Obama is doing this has the stink of environmentalists. I wonder how many of them who are telling Obama to do this are natives from Alaska? I wonder how many other Alaskan natives and corporations would be upset with them?

I am not sure about you, but even those whom are environmentalists living in Alaska. How exactly do you heat your home? Fossil Fuels? Wood? Well just in case you didn't realize it, you won't even be able to use the trees for your own use if you live near a Federal Forest. Get a clue liberals!

Now maybe my Alaskan Liberal Blog writers don’t care or seem to think the “One” will fix this, but this is a PROBLEM! Alaska IS in range as I have stated before! And now even Russia is saying this is a HUGE issue and it needs to be resolved, soon. Also that threat of attacking South Korea ships, are a huge red flag!

How do you fix something concerning a madman, a brainwashed country and many different Nuke facilities which are being re-opened and back to uranium development? Well, I can tell you one thing is possibly joining forces with Russia and their and our subs and with combined forces working together to stop the “process”. The only problem is, Russia will lose North Korea, as it has helped rebuild that Nation.

The U.N. wrote a very strong letter. Honestly, who cares about a letter? But it obviously ticked off Kim Jong Il and got him moving in a way that threatens not just the U.S. but China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, India, Australia, New Zealand, and not to mention other countries I can’t think of right now.

Also, Kim Jong Il is not in good health. It has been reported he has had a stroke, which he is now limping and very weak. It is rumored that Il’s son, Kim Jong Chol is being groomed for the next Dictating reign. Gotta love Dictators!

Now, what do you see as a problem? A ailing Dictator whom is ticked off that his health is deteriorating who wants to take out the world due to this problem. Or the fact that Obama is not actually taking this serious and is still going to cut the missile defense budget for Alaska. Even Governor Palin is annoyed with Obama, via a statement she made concerning missile defense.

Memorial Day weekend, and the largest living monument to Veterans... Mt. POW/MIA

On this Memorial Day, what is it that you are going to remind yourself of the men and women of this country sacrificed for you?

In Alaska, Memorial Day can have a special meaning. We have several Veterans Memorials all around the State. From Byers Lake Memorial 30 miles outside of Trapper Creek. The National Cemeteries at Ft. Richardson and Sitka Island. And the Veterans Wall and Memorial in Wasilla by the new Hospital. There is also a grand Memorial for Veterans downtown. If you have ever seen the huge flag pole with the huge flag in the park downtown, that would be one of the Veterans Memorial for Anchorage.

But we also have a very special mountain that was dedicated to those whom were POW’s and those whom are still MIA. This mountain was named Mt. POW/MIA by John Morrissey, whom was a Mud Marine during Vietnam. Mr. Morrissey’s long road to naming the mountain via the Federal Parks and the Dept of Parks, as they took over 30 years to name it.

Mt. POW/MIA is the only living monument and memorial to those whom have died, held via captors or missing in action anywhere in the world.

I plan on going to Mt. POW/MIA and laying some flower at the trailhead for those who died for me. What do you plan to do as a remembrance?

Media Malpractice in the Fireweed Theater.

Alaska's F-15's, to the auction!

Our F-15's are leaving Alaska. Budget cuts such as this are going to be the death of us all.

Due to the Obama Admin and Gate's (who has turned out to be a total weasel) it has been determined that F-15's are more or less obsolete. Well, my opinion is, why get rid of something if you can't replace it with another? The Military also isn't replacing any of the F-15's with the newer F-22's, that come to find out are to be phased out by 2011. Why?

But where do these perfectly capable F-15's go, when they are decommissioned? Into a Military surplus where they are to be auctioned off. Who do you think is going to be the highest auctioneer?

As some of you know I am a survivalist to some degree, but if I say it is time to get with it, do you really blame me as it seems that this Democrats Administration seem to want to make the U.S. not just Alaska defenseless? Not to mention releasing GITMO detainees in the U.S. Do you want one of these guys to be your neighbor?

Kertulla vrs Egan, in Juneau the stakes could be pretty high!

So Kerttula wants the Senate seat that Dennis Egan is now sitting on in Juneau. Yet she backs off? Oh I see a power struggle here!

Egan, after being put in via Governor Palin, under a power struggle even then for the Juneau Senate Seat that was left by Kim Elton, has left some interesting looks and brush off strokes from both sides of the Senate. Why do I say this? Well Egan is the son of former Governor William Egan. Dennis even has a Wiki site, which I have a feeling he did himself, as you can see some of the scathing feelings he has towards some people. But the reason why many do not like the idea of him in Senate is that they believe he is a spoiled person with varying shades of grey. He won almost all of his elections. But to appoint someone to that seat, many think there should have been an election rather then an appointment. I have to agree with them on this.

And onto Beth Kertulla, who also has a Wiki but nothing really on it. Do you think that maybe she did her Wiki site herself as well? But I digress. So she has been slithering around since 1998, lucky Juneau.... but her Father, Jay Kertulla for years and years was a State Senator who lives in Palmer and is more a Reagan Democrat since he worked under Hammond in more ways then one. But Ms. Kertulla is also a Oil and Gas Lawyer (Even though she won't say she is!) who worked for the State as a Oil and Gas Attorney before being elected and voted against ANWR and lobbying to have it drilled while she was the Minority leader. Don't believe me, look it up!

Both people come from pretty reputable families and these two are both lawyers. But neither seems to be as good as their Fathers in reputation nor honor.

Cook Inlet Gas and troubles with Marathon Oil and the Probelms with OCS.

Well an interesting development for those whom are in the Oil and gas industry. Marathon is cutting back production of natural gas. Why?

Risk, they say. Risk to what? Risk to the fact that you made a contract to extract the gas for the people of south central via the State of Alaska? Marathon, do not blame it totally on the RCA when you have been letting people go. Also isn't the RCA working with ENSTAR to get the gas from you? Hmmmmmm!

I think everyone in Alaska needs to call Marathon Oil and tell them to get their butts in gear and start working on these wells you have been talking about. Or give up your leases and give them to another company who WILL do what you said YOU would! Don’t give the “aquifer” excuse, not every Alaskan is as dumb as you take them for.

What am I talking about well in the KTUU report they talk about aquifers.

"What happens is when you shut in a gas well, they have these aquifers -- a
bunch of water that's pushing this gas to the well bore," Lockhart said. "And as
you shut those wells in or cycle them, a lot of times that water keeps moving
and the gas stops, and it pinches out that gas in the well bore."

The say shut in when in actuality it is called an Injection Well. It is where you inject water or the natural gas back into the area that you drilled. Usually, no more then 100 yards at most. The injection of this water or gas (sometimes other items) is to push or scour the oil and gas out of the “zone” being drilled and injection keeps the areas density. More or less so you don’t have a huge hole when it collapses. This has been going on for years, even in the lower 48. A "shut in" is actually a plugged well. That in many cases it is plugged for work, or to come back to at another time or to be abandoned all together. Re-Drilling a plug backed well isn't the easiest in the world, but it isn't like it can not be done.

So Marathon's excuses are just that... excuses. I can't wait for the the other smaller companies come up and beat Marathon at it's own game. Besides, wasn't it Marathon whom had a was suppose to talk about "Cook Inlet Natural Gas" with the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and others on what was reliable?

And the fact that the people of Point Hope have more or less closed down ALL of the OCS drilling Nation wide due to their lawsuit and the DOI is seeking some type of response from the Appeals Courts concerning the stratagy they are using and why. Shell has more or less said no more due to all the lawsuits and I don't blame them in the least little bit.

Marathon really needs to get a grip. Alaskan want to drill and if you are dragging, they won't put up with you. There are quite a few other Oil Companies who would love to be in your shoes right now.

Missouri Senator going after Alaskan Native Corps to get to Palin?

What now from pesky stupid Senate Democrats in the lower 49? Lets say they are trying to check on the substantial businesses that Alaska Native Corporations have had for over 20 years. Why?

Well after reading this in the ADN, concerning how Senators are going to investigate Alaska Native Contracts, which THEY were the ones who approved of in the first place, are getting all of these nice “Government Contracts to begin with. Well the Democrat Senator from Missouri is in a huge huff about it.

One of the Native Corporations, in which The Missouri Democrat Senator, Claire McCaskill is going after is the Chenega Corp. A little information on the Chenega Corp. is that they are a dwindling group of Natives. I do say dwindling as there are nor more then 30 pure. These people who are mostly family and a 8 A (a minority plan for businesses) for business banded their funds together after the earthquake and tsunami in 64 took out their entire village and started a Corp. based on defense. Do you really blame them? The next time they were hit with something catastrophic was due to Exxon, in which they sold their land back to the Federal Government.

Now they were smart. They hired strategists, awesome HR people to represent them for hiring people to work for them and worked their buns off to become one of the highest rated Native Corps in the world and they ARE in the Fortune 500.

But it isn't JUST Chenega.. it is also 19 other ANC (Alaska Native Corps) who got the "letter".

So why is Senator McCaskill going after Alaskan Natives? If it is to attack Sarah Palin in this odd round about way, I can tell you that not just the Natives in Alaska are going to revote for her but if Sarah runs for President, you can count on all Natives across the nation to vote for her as well.

Hey McCaskill. Are you THAT Stupid? I hope Lisa Murkowski and even Begich wipe your ass on the floor!

A warning for Tourists coming to Alaska who are driving.

This is for those who are looking to come to Alaska to visit.

I am going to give you a crash lesson on driving on the roads here in Alaska as I am already having to deal with terrorists… er I mean Tourists. That is what Alaskans fondly call them as it can become very hard to drive around them.

Let us say you rent a Motor home or a car when you come up or you are driving up via the Alcan. I will advise you to buy a Mile Post. It will be the BEST 20 bucks you will ever spend. It will tell you everything you ever wanted to know touristy wise and will give you a map of Alaska and the Alcan Hwy for Canada. I am telling you this as it is very easy to get lost up here due to bad turns and people thinking they know where they are going. No you don’t, get this annual book.

Now, as you drive keep your head lights on at all times. I don’t CARE that you think that the sun being up for hours and hours on end in Alaska helps US (as in Alaskans) see you. Keep them on if you are on the highways. This helps everyone, not just us. Not even the tourist buses put them on and I almost got into a head on with one this weekend because he was speeding and he didn’t have his lights on and I couldn’t see due to the sun in my eyes. Turn ON the head lights!!!

There are two laws, which are needed to be reminded again and again, even to other Alaskans up here. If there are more then five (5) cars behind you, you have to pull over! That is a law. Period! The other law, which only long time Alaskans seem to know about is when someone passes you; you NEED to get over as far to the right as possible to let them pass. It is the LAW! Also don’t speed up. We don’t appreciate that and in most cases our Alaskan cars and trucks will pass you and then we flip you off or worse. Trust me on the “worse” part and I have done it as well. What do I mean? Well, if you don’t let people pass… yet one person tries to pass you and they obviously have a bigger engine and there is head on traffic coming on, the person passing will step on the gas and will cut you off to the point that we will almost take out your front end. I am not joking nor do I kid about something like this.

I am telling you this as I am warning you. Alaskans understand the highways up here better then you the tourist. If you don’t know what a frost heave is, and underlying dip and what people don’t slow down for these. You will need to. There are also speed limits like everywhere else, so keep up with them. If you see something and want to stop, DO NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. If you do, expect someone to get out of their vehicle and be extremely angry. Road construction is a pain everywhere. Please keep in mind that when or if you are stopped by it that is can move fast. Don’t sit there and pretend that you don’t see the line moving.

As I know that there are those who come up here to “see” how we live. But keep in mind, that we don’t play games nor will we nice concerning driving on the highways. We don’t take a week off and usually try to do our fun stuff on the weekends. Drive safe.

Serial Killer in Anchorage, Alaska?

Serial Killer in Alaska? That may be a possibility.

It looks as though, whoever is doing it is picking the same location(s) and only targeting homeless. As of right now there are only 4, but God only knows if it will grow as there are quite a few homeless here in Anchorage and they live anywhere they possibly can. They are not just natives of Alaska, they are from all over the country and know they won’t be bothered here. This is one of the reasons that they come here. But they get a good dose of reality when they realize that Alaskans are not as giving as the lower 48 and the fact that there is a law in place concerning panhandling.

What bothers me is will whoever is doing this get bored and move on to other people using the park? I used to live in the exact area that these men have been killed and walk my dog and Campbell creek park isn’t the best but far from the worst. I never bothered the homeless who lived there, as I thought they need a place to be and feel safe just as I do. It was always a constant that they were inebriated though. Alcoholism in Alaska is as rampant as anywhere else, but it can be worse here due to the wild life and obviously bears as well as cold and hypothermia. Occasionally I would bring some sandwiches and a blanket I had that was extra to them and in most cases they would be very gracious. They are just as human as I and maybe one day it will come back around if I need help.

I have a feeling it is a couple kids or maybe another homeless guy as it usually happens up here. Either way it is pretty sad.

Homer Fire, Problem Trees with Bugs and Cleaning up themselves in Tanana

Rain in Anchorage and outlying parts is a great thing. We are in dire need of it considering how high the fire danger is right now for south central. Unfortunately, Homer isn’t getting this much needed rain, in which they need more then us in Anchorage need at this moment in time.

But the spruce bark beetles are the reason why everything is shooting up in flames as you sit there, reading my article. These pesky little insects kill the tree from the inside out and you can see it dieing. I wrote a little bit about the fire danger a few days ago, but no one seems to have noticed.

I do not understand why we do not implement some type of State and City (no matter what city) group effort in cutting these trees down. They are a complete fire hazard, as after the tree dies its decomposing trunk with the old sap still clinging to it’s brittle dry branches is just tinder for the next lightening storms or flicked cigarette butt or someone not paying attention to their burning… which I think is the case in Homer. But either way there are these dead trees all over Alaska. Why not cut them down and give them to people for fire wood? It lets other baby trees grow and is better for the environment at time then just letting them rot or having a fire, which kills everything in its wake. Including animals, birds and people.

The Kuskokwim and Yukon have been taking up much of Palin’s time, which is good as it does show she does care about Alaska and the Residents. Even if you think she does not. A Tanana Elder said that they are just going to start and rebuild without waiting for help. Good! Why wait? I am in total agreement with her. If you do not do for yourself, you will never get anything done. Good for Tanana! I hope that the fuel is also cleaned up. But that may take some time.

Fish, Fire, Water and Filibustering!

Homer is burning, the Yukon and Kuskokwim River are still wreaking havoc and I am waiting for the Volcano to blow again (Check out the NEW Lava Dome Pic). Yep… Alaska is in action this year.

Good news is that the Copper River Salmon season is open. So for all of you lower 49ers, ordering Copper River Reds at some outrageous price in some fancy restaurant… yay. Sorry, red salmon is for smoking, I don’t care what river they come out of.

Also usually a week after the Coppers start, the Kings begin to filter into Ship Creek.. and the first run in the Kenai for Reds is happening! FISHING SEASON IS ON!

Bears are out in full force now. I saw one going to work this morning as I live near the mountains. No one else seems to have seen the large bruin in the trees. A nice grizzly that was blonde. I would assume it was due to the sun that no one noticed it, but when you are in the middle of Town and see it, it makes me smile. Maybe it may eat another stupid person. Yeah, I know I am crude for saying it. But we do have quite a few stupid people in Anchorage.

But what I think is great is ConocoPhillips has struck a gas deal with Chugach Electric. That is awesome news. As Cook Inlet and drilling has been going down hill via oil and natural gas. Since they have closed the Agrium Plant in Kenai, there is more gas for people who use it in the South Central area. Let’s hope that we can get a bullet line soon for many other parts of the State. There are some alternative energy that just won’t work in the middle of winter up here. I wish the greenies would figure that out.

And Begich is at it again concerning Democrats vs. Republicans again. Murkowski is trying to get a block (and has been successful so far) on David Hayes, who was brought up by Obama for the Dept of Interior of Deputy Secretary. Hayes, an environmental lawyer, would be horrific for Alaska and we would never be able to do anything. BLM would actually become stagnant up here. As well as the MMS is already stagnant due to the supposed “environmental lawsuit” concerning OCS leases, which I think is a crock! The guy is also a lobbyist. Energy Stimulus and the legislators are getting on my freaking nerves.

Hey Lesil McGuire, why is it that since your husband has gone to JAIL due to bribes, why are you acting like a freaking Democrat? Hanging out with Jay Ramras, who is not a conservative and should switch parties all together isn’t going to help you or your image. Or maybe you are his next love? At least he didn’t have to go to New York!

So, what ARE you legislators going to do concerning energy in Alaska? Bill Wielechowski thinks that 28.6 million can be used all over the State. On what Bill? Solar Panels in Barrow, in the middle of winter? Please expound Bill, as you are starting to get on my nerves even more then usual.

How about we use the "Stimulus" on those whom have had damage on their homes, or have no homes now, due to the Yukon and Kuskokwim? What a thought there? It Stimulates growth and warm feelings! And it HELPS rebuild lives and can use less energy! Geez, what a concept!

Wow, Sarah Derangement Syndrome (PDS) is out of control right now!

I can say I am wise to the world and get some idea of why people are the way they are, but this has me floored. I can say I do not like or care for Obama, but I don’t hate him… yet. But this PDS with people is absolutely nuts. Conservative4Palin posted a PDS victim, which happens to be an Alaskan Liberal Blogger who actually filed an Ethics Claim on Sarah. All I can say is WOW, let it go already! Get another hobby, or something. You are going to die from a heart attack or cause yourself to go into a mental state (which I think she is already there) and have a melt down or a complete nervous break down.

Is this all over a book deal Sarah just got? Or having some ethics claims thrown out, I don’t know. But this woman is in serious need of help!

As for the rest of Alaska, well it is time to see what can be done. Jay Ramras is at it again concerning Sarah and her book deal if she travels outside of the State to promote book signings and say that is actually an Ethics Violation. I think Jay needs to be reminded of leaving State for the "Obama Inauguration" in which many Alaska Legislators left to watch, during the legislative session. How about a Claim on all of these Legislators whom went, rather then conduct States business, like they should have and being paid by the Alaskans. Hmmmmm. I also noticed I can't get anything off ADN, KTUU or a search engine off of it. I wonder WHY it was taken down?

Jay, move back to New York.... you are no Alaskan.

Hunting in Alaska... what I use.

Hunting in Alaska is a huge part of some families up here. I say some because 1 out of every 10 Alaskans hunts now. That is very sad. There are people who should really get out there and learn to hunt, whether it be with a rifle, shot gun or a bow and arrow. It is just overwhelming how people don’t hunt up here, as for the specifics of better meat via moose, goat and even bear.
I am a long time fisher, but recent hunter. I have done everything you can believe to get ready to go hunting. From classes on how to best field dress an animal to tracking, hiding and ambushing. I have everything for hunting except an ATV or Sled. I am looking into getting at least a sled for winter hunting and keeping it at the BF’s. The BF has a friend selling a his wife’s older sled, which she passed away from cancer. We will see. As for an ATV, I am kind of prone to get a new one… we will see on that as well.

I own a 30.06 Savage with a 40x9 scope and a .22 Stevens rifle with a smaller scope (as I have spaced out the range), both bolt action. The BF gave me a 10 gauge older Stevens shotgun, but I don’t think it will suit me well as it is for youth and I don’t shot youth models, but I will try it out. I also have a Diamond Edge Bowtech compound Bow, that I am proficient at and enjoy using as it takes more skill to use a Bow then it does to shoot a gun. I am very proud of myself for sticking it out and learning more (as you will never stop learning when it comes to archery) and passing the IBEP test I was dreading.

My first “kill” was a ptarmigan that I shot with my Bow. I was stoked to say the least, they can fly a bit but they are such dumb birds I felt like I was being duped or the fact it wasn’t fair to kill them with the brain the size of a pebble, but they are great eating! The second kill was a bunny, which I ate that night. I went with a friend up to their cabin and helped with a moose. I used my Bow as they did as well, but we aren’t sure who killed it as I and my friend’s wife both hit the same area within a centimeter. I gave it to them as a thank you for letting me come with them. They gave me the back strap, which was awesome.

You do not need a permit to kill some types of birds or jack rabbits her in Alaska. All you need is a license and you can do as you please. As soon as the Regulations book comes out for the 2009/2010 season, I am going to try for moose around Anchorage, Kenai, Talkeetna and Glennallen areas and go for Caribou up on the Haul Road with a couple friends who have done it before. To kill larger animals (50 lbs or more), you need a permit or a harvest ticket.

I also am looking into trapping, small game only. I wanted to try for a wolverine, but that looks like it will never be reopened for trapping in the Anchorage area, even though the signs are all over the Chugach Mountains. I haven’t joined a trapping club yet as I haven’t decided which one I want to join. They both seem good, but the Anchorage one and the Valley ones have different meetings and so on. I am still researching it.

You can tell me about yourself if you like and what you hunt for. If you are liberal or someone who believes that hunting is wrong. Let me ask you this. If you think it inhumane for me to kill a animal, with one shot and put it down fast, what do you think of Cow’s whom are on certain farms around the United States, that use a nail driven thru their skull or a air gun that punctures the skull and pulverizes the brain? Is that more humane then me using a gun or bow to kill an animal for my family? I like to know where my meat is coming from. And I also believe that if you don’t have a clue about what you eat, then you need to educate yourself more then I.

Fire Season is high and the Yukon isn't helping.

I sat last night looking over my little park that I live by and thought to myself, this seems familiar. The weather is dry, not at all like the soggy and cold summer South Central got last year. Why does this seem familiar? Then it hit me, this is going to be a summer that is very dry and we may have a fire like the Big Lake/Miller Reach fire, but closer to Anchorage and further north such as Talkeetna and Trapper creek and possibly Denali area.

Now, if you aren’t from Alaska it was a very serious fire. Unlike California that has those scrub brush bushes; South Central Alaska has insect infected Spruce trees that explode if they are on fire. Willow and Alder doesn’t explode, but based on the time of year that a fire starts, the sap they produce make a great torching effect and burn hot. Also, there are homes that have heating oil for their energy needs to warm water or keep the houses warm. Heating fuel in their containers is a huge hazard when a fire breaks out.

Why does this bother me? For the last few years, Alaska has been in a wetter then usual spell and we haven’t had the fires that we would normally have. That is normal actually as South Central up to Denali, The Panhandle of Alaska and quite a few spots in between are actually rain forest. But the Spruce Bark Beetle goes in cycles just like the weather. I had noticed them more last year as they were migrating out to look for new food sources (trees) and they were all over. But I never really thought anything of them as they do not bite you. But they were very large, so I know their cycle is about to explode again.

There were very few fires last year. The Caribou Fire in Kenai wasn’t huge, just smoky at best. I was fishing at the Russian and you couldn’t escape the smoke, but at least it wasn’t raining that day. There was a small fire up towards Fairbanks, but closer to Delta Junction that I remember. But it wasn’t big enough to worry about as the Rail Road was dealing with Fairbanks and Nenana flooding and the bridges closing.

Why is it I am worried about Wildfires right now, when Eagle and Fort Yukon are pretty much destroyed and Tanana as well as other villages are about to flood or are flooding now. It is a hazard to rebuild to begin with, but under the danger of possible wild land forest fires, this might be bad. These people have gone through enough, I don’t want to see them have to rebuild due to a freak lightening storm or a careless cigarette thrown on brush.

It is a good idea to keep an eye on the weather, not just the water. This is the start of Fire Season in Alaska.

Fishing Bug and the Garden Saga continues!

Fishing ….. I am so getting the “bug” to go. Even for trout!

I may have to take a few hours this coming Saturday and pry the Significant Other from our “gardening chores” and just go, have a beer and relax even if we are both bone tired.

Fishing for trout up here, depending on what type is fun and relaxing. For relaxing trout fishing, I go for the little stocked lake trout. They will bite anything from little pixies to tiny hand made flies to shrimps and egg bait. I have used corn, but that was before it was illegal, but it worked well and I use anything yellow from here on out on lake trout.

There are times that I have actually caught a 2 lbs trout, that was worthy of keeping. Most times I throw it back for another day.

And the garden saga continues!

The Signifact Other decides he wants to start planting. Ugh, I can’t help him right now. But here is a pic of what we are doing.

Alaska is in trouble .... Pourchot the bird hugger in the Interior.

Oh Dear GOD! Salazar appointed Pat Pourchat as the Special Asst to for Alaska to Salazar. Kiss ANY chance of ANWR or NPRA to expand or OCS drilling to EVER open back up. As he is against any type of exploration. Thank Salazar, you fargin idiot! Pourchot is also one of the "people" who happens to be responsible for stalling Point Thompson drilling due to in 2002 because of.... the birds!

Now, what do you know or remember about Pourchot? I remember quite a bit. Pourchot was part of the “legislative process” and he himself had this little tid bit concerning “Legislative Body vs. a Governor” issue. He is the main reason for why the legislators get away with as much as they do in Juneau. He was the architect for it!

He is also a tree hugger. In the extreme! The man likes to Fish, but Oh God.. lets not kill and eat the animals for harvesting purposes! But nooo, lets check everyone who has EVER got a Hunting and Fishing license from the State of Alaska, and make sure they are paying their "child support". If you think I am joking, click the links!

This guy is bad news, for Alaska and for the Nation! I would keep an eye on him... if I were all of you!

The Greenhouse from HELL!

What a great weekend. It wasn’t as warm as I would have hoped but better then cold and dreary!

I spent the last 3 days with my Significant Other, building our “greenhouse from hell”. Did I mention that we were tired as heck? I worked so hard my hands are still swollen as I type this. You may be thinking, okay, why is this person talking about swollen hands and killing themselves over gardening and building a small greenhouse. Well, we didn’t exactly get the garden up and running yet. We just built the greenhouse this weekend. A 12x12 made by a company who makes plastic canvas (but much better quality greenhouses) carports that can be moved.

So Friday we went out to begin leveling the area where we decided on putting the slight foundation we were building to put the canvas greenhouse on. Talk about a PITA! We both start using shovels and digging down maybe 8 inches at most, in which I think we hit a root thicket of spruce, willow and devil’s club. That took about 3 hours of digging in dense or loess soil and de-rooting as well as leveling out and pulling the roots of the devils club out. Talk about back breaking work.

We then take our 4x4x12 pressure treated lumber and put them into the small trenches we dug. Measured, cut and squared and rechecked to make sure it was 12x12 and then put the landscape fabric down so nothing would grow up in the greenhouse. After doing the fabric and making sure everything was leveled we then used log screws and screwed everything together. Next we started putting the top to the canvas greenhouse together. We bring it over to the foundation and look at the top of the greenhouse overlapping the foundation. NOOOOOO! After hours of working our asses off, de-rooting, leveling, raking, shoveling and making sure everything was correct….the damn greenhouse was larger then what they said it was. UGH! We both get up and walk away with disgust at all the hard work we put into it and left it for the next morning.

Saturday, we get up later then usual as we are both very early morning people and sore as heck. Run to the store, and then slowly start getting the items for the greenhouse up and running. All sides up and stable, we decide that the legs can go in a little more and we can screw them down which should work out well. I then realize I forgot something at the store and have to drive all the way back. I leave and return 45 minutes later seeing my Significant Other putting the pipe thru the smallish holes on the canvas greenhouse back side. All I could think was, no no no no! I subtly say, while taking a break, that I thought it was suppose to wrap around the piping. I got a humpf and a heavy sigh after a gulp of poweraid drink and the deconstruction of the canvas greenhouse. He looks at me and said, “Have I told you that I hate this stupid greenhouse.” I look at him with a knowing look of, yeah me too. Finally, after 3 hours of huffing, puffing and stringing this stupid greenhouse up… we are both dead tired, both have swollen hands, tired as heck, and just want to take a nap… we are DONE! I will NEVER make about canvas greenhouse when this damn thing dies! I will just build a old fashioned one.

Now, we have the greenhouse up. But now we have to get our special culvert we had cut into 2 foot section off of a 20 foot pipe, to make raised beds for the rest of our garden. And now he wants to put some kind of fencing around all 10 of the 4 foot in diameter culvert, so the moose don’t get into the veggies. Right now I couldn’t care less if I actually do anything with it this year. Oh course I am just saying this… and thank GOD I won’t have to do this tomorrow. Good thing I am doing this next weekend.. huh!

Jay Ramras. Misogynist Jerk or SJM L4L?

What is worse then a Misogynist jerk? One who is also looking for love?

I don’t understand Jay Ramras’s obsession with Sarah Palin and putting her down. Is he jealous of her and her normal American family, which btw is very normal in today’s society. Is he wishing he could have had a woman like Sarah Palin? Is he jealous of Todd, who actually has quite a few hobbies that have panned out for the betterment of the Palin Family? Is it the fact that they are an outdoorsy family? What is it?

I think it is the fact that Sarah is a beautiful woman who has done well for herself, and even though there have been bumps in the road, as all families have. Sarah and Todd and her whole Family have pulled together as a strong family unit. I think that is why Ramras is jealous. He wants the same but has no clue how to approach it or acquire that one thing he has been looking for.

What am I talking about? Oh, how in 1997 he went to New York to look for a nice Jewish woman and was splashed on many different Media Outlets.

Alaskan Fishing Gear... IT IS ON!

Oh the allure of summer right around the corner. Fishing, hiking, biking, and just plain frolicking in our beautiful backyard we call Alaska!

If no one has ever fished up here before, I suggest you try once. It will be a lifetime experience you will never forget. The feel of the tug as you pull up the rod in surprise and get the hook in the mouth so the fight can start as you stand their breathless, shaking and reeling and shaking some more thinking that you may lose it or the line will snap. And when you get your salmon in, the queasy and shaking feeling, as you are actually out of breath and tired as hell sets in. You DID IT! You caught your first salmon. To bad it was only a silver or a Coho salmon that weighs 9 lbs. Now imagine that and times it by 100 and that is what it is like bringing in a King Salmon!

Now what would you need for the fishing trip of a lifetime? A good friend to coach you and some good advice:

1. Get a good rod that is made of carbon filament and made to flex. If you get a fiberglass rod, more then likely it will snap on you and they sound like a gun going off when they break down. I bought my rod(s) for less then 40 bucks a piece.
2. A decent reel is always a good idea. Depending on the salmon you want to get a couple for different species. I have a 20, 30 and a 40 for Kings to Reds. 40 is for my King rod. 30 is for Silver rod. And 20 is for Red rod. But it also depends on your line.
3. The line is important! You must make sure it will not fray, splinter or snap if stretched out. I use filament line from 10 lbs up to 35 lbs. Other people I know use braided line (which is a polycarbonate and waxed string that doesn’t break), and others use fly rod line…. Which I won’t even go there.
4. Your tackle is VERY important. Without the right tackle you aren’t going to get anything. Russian Flies are a necessity up here. Spoons and Spinners are also very good for low tidal areas. Beads and hooks are wonderful in high tidal areas. I use mooching hooks as it is easy to slide a few beads on and throw out there.
5. You might want to think of some type of waders to use. I like my regular waders, but I do have chest waders. It depends on preference.
6. Shot weights are good so you have drag on your line and it bounces down a stream. You want it to bounce.. But not get caught on a tree limb or a rock..
7. Must have polarized sunglasses.. They are a life saver!
8. Bug Dope, is a fact of life.
9. Needle nose pliers, if you forget these, smack yourself in the head!
10. A nice filet knife with a sheath.
11. Plastic bags, black one. You will love me for telling you this!
12. A piece of rope to keep your fish on, so they do not drift down stream and keep cold in the water.
13. Water, trust me on this!
14. Munchies in a ziplock bag. You will get hungry out there and keeping it in a ziplock will keep the food dry and the bears out.
15. And a backpack to put all this crap in!

Always remember to bring bear mace if you are in an area that has a lot of people. But if you travel out somewhere, where bear would be more common then human contact, I would recommend a 30.06. Just my favorite rifle is the reason I state it.

Remember, you are here to have FUN. If you catch a “Big One” count yourself lucky. I still know a lot of Alaskans who haven’t caught a King yet.

No, I am not one of them! I have caught plenty.... but can I get you to catch them is the question!

Sullivan, Redoubt and the Yukon villages.

Well Anchorage has Sullivan. Oh yay. I will wait and see what he does as I am not a fan of neither him nor Croft. One reason I know he is not a fiscal conservative is how he has repeatedly tried to come up with some type of sales tax, since sitting on the Assembly. So what does he also do, he has a smoking tax on all smoking items.. from cigarettes, to cigars to pipe tobacco. 500% in one year is a tad large, but it didn’t stop there and has steadily kept rising. The Federal Government has added a tax as well, but nothing like the City and now State tax on it. He will have to win me over and from what I see; I don’t think it will happen.

And on to other news, Mt Redoubt seems to be getting edgy. Well, anyone in Alaska knows this is prone to happen. We don’t freak out about it, unless you are IN a plane and coming in or leaving the airport when it blows. Other then that, it is just life but at least it fertilizes the plants. I wonder if it is God’s “Miracle Grow”?

And the Yukon River is now taking out some small towns or villages along its bank. I would say most know the normalcy of it. Break up comes, the river swells due to melt, and the ice breaks up. But occasionally you get more ice then water, as it has happened this year. So my thinking is, what are the people going to do, not what is the government going to do. Oh course this is my opinion, but if you build on the bank of a river, eventually you ARE going to have problems. Murphy’s Law, Rule of Thumb, Common Sense… whatever you want to call it, but it makes not sense to build a house on the side of a large river knowing it will come to take your house away.

Now, we all know that eventually the State will come in and “Help”. But maybe the villages and the people who live in them should stop and think and maybe move to higher ground? I understand it is peaceful to live next to the water, but who doesn’t think that one day your house may not be there? People think with a type of nostalgia concerning houses and where they move too. I bet they regret it sometimes. Eventually you will have something called an Oxbow lake, which forms from creeks and rivers that have connected in a different spot. But are people willing to have thier house wash away? This is almost like buying property in Nevada, and hoping Californai finally falls off so you have ocean front property!

Teen Pregnancy, what if it were you?

I don’t understand why people are so tacky and disgusting against someone who has had a child at a young age. No one is perfect…only God is.

I can say I feel for Bristol, as I was in her shoes at one time. No one can understand that unless you are in their shoes. Being pregnant at such a young age is frightening at best to say. As you worry about what your parent(s), friends, and the people you look up too may say. Also the fact that eventually you come out of the haze and realize that there will be a little baby in this world that will need to be taken care of and you are its sole provider. It honestly makes teenagers wake up and realize… oh shit!

Bristol, in deciding to keep the child and not abort nor the adoption route, has seemed to put her in a bad light. Why? Because she is trying to be an adult? I am really not sure why all these people whom are derogatory towards her even care. If they have never been in this situation or have had their children or family or their friend or friends children have a teen pregnancy, they shouldn’t put down someone who has had this happen.

The Candies Foundation isn’t what most think. It is somewhere to look when you have questions. They didn’t have this when I was pregnant and all I had was the Planned Parenthood of Alaska, which was not who I wanted to speak with when I had questions.

My story is a little different then Bristol’s. I was 18 when I became pregnant even though I was using birth control. It took me a whole week of thinking thru every scenario of what would happen, and kept the secret to myself aside from my parents. I thought about it all from keeping the child, to aborting to adoption. I knew at that age that abortion would screw me up for life and I would always regret that if I had done it. I honestly thought about keeping the child, but would I be selfish and what would happen if I couldn’t provide? I decided on adoption, as I knew that the family I picked for this child would love that child, give it everything it ever wanted and needed and be protected. I gave up my child before I ever had it. I picked the family, whom I consider part of my extended family and they consider me the same. I signed the paperwork late in my 8th month of pregnancy. Do I regret it? Sometimes I wonder, but only to know what it would be like to have my own as I have not been pregnant since. Am I a better person then Bristol? No, I think we are the same. As she and I wanted what was best for our children.

Bristol if you happen to read this. I know it is hard, but as you get older it will become easier in some aspects. Know you have God, your Family and your real friends to help you and watch out for you. Always think things thru before you jump.

Statistically you are more likely to be caught with a DUI then get pregnant as a teen. But God help those who do., God help those who have as well.

Would anyone (I don’t care about your political background) mind telling me why you think OCS Drilling is so bad?

Why I don’t have a problem with OCS Drilling. First is that Arctic Drilling has been going on for decades. Cook Inlet is one of the few that Started up and was thought extreme at the time. It is still not the easiest to drill… and there have been issues concerning it as a boat flipped due to an incompetent crew. But up on the North Slope, they have actually built island(s) (Northstar) to drill in the ocean.

Would it make a difference to build an island to drill in the outer continental shelf?

Now, I don’t want to hear the “global warming/climate change” items. It really does not apply to Alaska as the weather changes constantly. It can be June and snowing in Anchorage (yes it has happened before). I consider it Junk Science and there has really been no conclusive evidence that Man is doing anything. I am more a Solar Cycle believer. And since our Plant is very active via volcano activity, I really have nothing to say to those who say it is man made.

Do I worry about the animals and birds… in a sense, no. LOA's are occasionally issued to check on all animals that come close to Northstar Island via the health as well as to do necropsy on them if needed. The animals have worked well with the man made islands off in the Beaufort Sea and don’t seem to be having problems navigating around the rigs in Cook Inlet. Does a bird occasionally fly into a rig or building? Heck I have had more birds hit my house here in Anchorage then probably the North Slope. But that is due to magnetic pulses via our extremely moody Mt Redoubt.

But I would like your opinion.

Time to start growing that Garden!

Gosh, it has been absolutely beautiful here in Anchorage and around the State!

Have you started your garden yet? I actually started mine in mid March. I have tomatoes, squashes of different varieties, cucumbers, green peppers, jalapeños, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, watermelon, pumpkin, onions, garlic, horseradish and quite a few different varieties of herbs. But I am not a master gardener; I just have a super green thumb.

Alaska is a cold climate vegetation growth. You can not grow corn up here due to the sunlight.. as it grows at night, even in the wee night hours as the sun doesn’t totally go down and has a tendency to have a “dusk” for a few hours depending on where you are in the State. The corn I have seen is usually very small ears. I haven't seen large ears except in the Lower 48. I guess this is why so many people try to grow marijuana up here, due to the light.

I have multiple different gardens all over Alaska. I won’t tell you where I am growing most of my veggies this year. But lets say it is going to be some work as I have already mastered Anchorage. I think I was a farmer in a former life.

Mike Nuckols of Alaska Dirt has an AWESOME blog on many different avenues on how Alaska grows things in the Interior (Fairbanks, Delta Junction, Tok and any towns before the Brooks Range) and how to do it on different projects for Alaska. He and I don’t see eye to eye on everything, but he is surely one of the few people I would ask about Alaska growing if I couldn’t figure it out myself. But I have given him something to think about a time or two due to my decent knowledge on plants and what is edible.

What is it that you like to grow in your neck of the woods? My “hope” is to one day have a giant pumpkin to put at the State Fair and win! Small dream I know, but a goal for sure.

I am doing what I can concerning the Ethics Regulations on time that is mine. I appreciate the help and support that you all give me on this. Geothermal... just an observation

I was reading about certain items that Obama wants to be put into effect. Such as alternative energy? What exactly does he mean by this?

Alternative energy isn’t exactly all it is cracked up to be… how does this affect Alaska?
Everyone is buying those (Stupid IMO) hybrid vehicles that don’t seem to work as well up here as they do in the Southern part of the Hemisphere. I wonder why? Cold and batteries don’t exactly mix, nor does Ethanol or Methanol as it gums up when in extreme colds and becomes a jelly like subsistence. British Petroleum tried the alternative diesel trucks and gave them BACK to the company and went back to the original diesels they had. That says something right there! You also can’t really use solar panels here in the winter. And if you are in area that is lucky to be windy consistently, you might have a chance at Wind Power, but you will also have to worry about it freezing up (I mean the oil and lube which is not “alternative”).

There isn’t much else to think about, except maybe Geothermal. Now, geothermal has been around a while, but mostly in the southern states such as California and Nevada and is gaining speed in many other states and places.

How exactly did it start? Well it has been around for over a couple thousand years as the Greek used it then. But it was hard to harness and made their “people” have hallucinations due to the chemical compounds and sulfur associated as well as depending on the tectonic area, it can scald you or even cook you!

Iceland has this technology, but at what price to their island? They say it is safe. I would like to see it first hand before I say yay or nay.

But I do know companies have tired and are trying up here for Geothermal. Unalaska was a base test, a number of years ago. The company actually drilled into the volcano itself to measure and test if it was feasible. Unfortunately, the project stopped due to funding as it isn’t cheap to get supplies and drilling equipment out to the island.

There is a new effort going on across the inlet. This company is also going to see how the feasibility of geothermal via a volcano again. This has me kind of leery, not that I am saying no to it as I do know it works, but the fact Alaska has some of the most active volcanos in the world. I wouldn’t want to have a bunch of money from private, federal and/or state poured into this and then the volcano blows and you have to start all over again and rebuild. Think of Redoubt and then the holding tanks that many are screaming about, and you have roughly the same concept.

But there is a lot to be determined concerning geothermal. Have they done shot holes around the areas in which they want to drill so that the area is stable and not plastic? There are quite a bit of “soft” or plastic ground in that area as it was scoured for methane. Data doesn’t lie concerning that, nor does core data.

I can go more into detail, but I am going to leave it at that.

But has anyone else heard of selling Volcanic Ash out of State to Farmers to revitalize the soil yet?

Well, this is becoming a tedious job.

If you have ever tried to do something like this, I feel you pain but it has been a learning experience for sure.

I won’t go into detail on what is going on, just note that I am the type to “Get R’ Done” and this will happen. I won’t post details… you may hear about it later after the brouhaha is done with.

But I will be posting updates on how far along I am… without the “details” as some people are getting odd on me. Emails are still coming in for support… which I thank everyone for who wants to support or wants to help and can’t. And I thank all the new blogs and bloggers who are picking me up. Very cool… but if you were in my shoes, wouldn’t you do the same by trying to change the rules for the betterment of your State?

I will also be putting up threads, like I always have, about Alaska. I live in an interesting State; you would be surprised on what is up here and how we live.

Thanks again and keep the faith, cross them fingers and if it is nice outside.. GO OUTSIDE! I know I am going to be out fishing soon!

Russia and the Arctic Takeover.

As I gather my information for the idea (which BTW is quietly spreading). I decided to go check drudge and saw this little goody.

Russia insists it won’t militarize the Arctic.

WHEW, what a relief that I am not going to become a Russian soon!

Yeah right, I wouldn’t doubt that there were probably 3 nuclear subs and a few drilling rigs around the Arctic Ocean right now 50 or so miles off the International line for America.

Something is a foot… and I am sure that there is more to come.

Getting the Ball rolling on Ethics Regulations

Ok everyone, I am looking into and beyond what I can do. And now I need your help!

I am calling and have been calling the AG’s office. If anyone knows a Lawyer who wouldn’t mind doing some pro bono work on this, have them contact me at HelpingPalin@gmail.com . I am getting all the legalities on what we have to do.

Now remember this is a broad spectrum.

What is going to be needed to change or an amendment to the Ethics Act is for those who put in a complaint, need to sign a confidentiality clause in which they are not allowed to speak of the complaint until after it has gone thru all the proceedings concerning is. More or less these people will remain Anonymous throughout the whole time frame of the complaint. IF they speak about the complaint, the complaint will be throw out entirely (it does not matter if the claim was frivolous or not) and the person(s) who made the complaint will have to pay the State of Alaska back in entirety all fees associated with the complaint.

Also, if the complaint does turn out to be frivolous or fraudulent in anyway, the person(s) whom put in the complaint must pay back all fees associated with it.

Why am I taking it this far? Because the attorneys and those who work in the law office, who represent our State have enough to do without having to deal with these asinine complaints.

This is my stand. Will you stand and help me?

It has come to my attention another frivolous ethics complaint was filed.

Why do these people do this? Would they like to be the ones who are held accountable concerning this?

I would like for ALL Conservative Alaskans to come forth and help me as well as the Governor and her State Staff take care of this and have the Dept. of Law begin to backtrack those whom are filing these. It is time to fight back.

Survival, are you ready?

What does one do in Alaska (or sub arctic area) concerning a pandemic, natural disaster in some range and capacity? Not many want to think about that especially since most think we are invincible in some way, shape or fashion.

There was an earthquake this morning, a smacking type… or what is known as a shaker. It woke me up out of a deep sleep around 8AM and scared me. Many people ask me why earthquakes scare me. I was in the earthquake in Washington State Feb 28 and The Alaska ones in Nov. and know the force first hand.

So it got me to think of what would happen if there happen to be some type of disaster here or anywhere. What would happen? Would we be left behind? Would it be like the 1964 earthquake where the military loaded those who didn’t think of anyway to rebuild, left on a C130 and sent to where ever.

Personally, I don’t hold our Government to anything. They have shown that they are incompetent in all capacity concerning disasters no matter what kind or manner. From Hurricanes like Katrina to Earthquakes like the 1989 California type to great flooding. Our Government is just unable and unstable to help other then those who choose to defraud.

I have a personal survival pack, that I can double and triple for my Mother and my Boyfriend is necessary. I have a couple good rifles and ammo for food if need be, fishing gear if the right season and dry/canned goods. I have a small kit for emergency purposes that I need to update as well as items to keep warm. Do you have that? Would you think that far forward?

I have been called insane, crazy, etc. for thinking like this. But it doesn’t take much for someone who has been hungry to think like this if they have ever gone without. I can say I have been hungry, wandering the streets having to do for myself and not telling a soul at that time in my life due to pride. But even pride gets put aside when the spirit is broken. I will never go hungry again.

What I recommend and give advice, is not because you should listen to me, but a subtle reminder that no one is going to watch out for you but you. Here is what I have, and just a suggestion. If you would like or have other ideas, please suggest some in the reply:

Water, bottled and at least 2 cases. And 3 large water bottles from a water store. You will use it.
Dry goods, Rice 50lbs bag, Pasta (elbow is the best as it takes less space) at least 10 lbs. 5-10 jars of Peanut butter.
Canned items like vegetables will be a good sent. Make sure to get a variety.
Dehydrated fruits and vegetables. You will NEED these for some vitamins.
Dehydrated meat. As this will be a blessing for energy.
Nuts of all varieties. Macadamia is best for fat, almonds for energy and walnuts are good for digestion. Peanuts are great but you will be constipated if you eat too many.
A multi-vitamin and supplements. Keep yourself HEALTHY!
Hygiene items, from toilet paper to paper towels. Baby wipes will be something you can trade if you get enough of them. Women should remember Tampons will be traded as well as Diapers. Remember Babies will need them.
Powdered milk. It will help, but won’t taste pleasant.
Survival Gear such as batteries, matches, candles, knives (I would suggest you get a survival type) a spork, small and easy to handle pots to boil water if needed, water pills.
An emergency kit with everything you can think of. From saline solution to needles if need be. You can never not have enough items in this. If you have some extra items like pain pills or pills that you stopped taking for a cold. Put them in a Freezer bag and put them in a freezer to keep them fresh, but not close to something that may “leak” on them. These will be priceless in the end.
Clothing… light but breathable and warm. Cotton, as much as we love it, kills. Synthetic materials are a must but always take a sweat shirt and a pair of jeans just in case. They have always been lifesavers. Just remember when in a predicament to shed them as cotton will stay wet for hours and you can not get warm in them if they are wet. If you do not have anything, look online at the outlet stores, it doesn’t matter what “fashion” is in, think warm and survival in the long run.
Shelter is what you make of it. If you can take a tent and a sleeping bag (synthetic up to -40 is the best) and a tarp, you are sent. Rain is a killer more so then snow. Wind is also a killer. Always remember that you will never make it in a windy rain so find the lee of a rock face or slope and hunker down.

I also recomend some snow shoes and if you have one and know how to use it, a Bow with good carbon arrows. They will be a lifesaver if you are unable to use a rifle.

God help us all. I would like to think more people think like I do… but I know they don’t.

Scenario on Fallout in Alaska.

Interesting reads all around. Seeing Pakistan and India concerning the taliban having a chicken game on who blinks first is a tad unnerving in all aspects. But how would that effect Alaska?

Seeing as these two countries both have nuclear advantages and the fact that many are (and have been) fighting over in the middle eat for centuries isn’t helping. India may not like Pakistan due to the fact it was part of India, is very interesting to me. It is almost like Texas or Alaska seceding from our Union… and our Union holding a grudge. That is how I see both of these countries. Also it has to do quite a bit concerning religion, both countries citizens standings in the world (kind of like who is better via schooling, money etc), and their extreme differences in policies. But I digress…

How would these two countries have a impact on Alaska? Well since they are both WMD countries, with large nuclear reserves and missiles, what if one of these countries had a moment of weakness? What if one of them let one fly?

Well it would be catastrophic in many aspects. Think about Mt Redoubt and how the air is taking the ash around the world due to the wind. We may have that with nuclear fallout more so here then in the lower 48. We could also watch the weather and clouds change substantially and start some very nasty storms. The old acid rain scenario could possibly be a reality … but imagine fallout snow. How would that affect us up here in Alaska? Where would the Fallout shelters be? Are there still some standing?

Fallout or radioactive isotopes are interesting. In many cases they will make a person sick by suppressing the immune system. Buy suppressing it; it can also leave a person lethargic, unable to eat as the brain will not function properly due to the nerves and connection unable to synchronize. This will also have an effect on our bowels, making us have large headaches and constantly thirsty. But what may be even more serious is the possible constant nose bleeds as the veins and heart will work harder but the veins in our body will either expand due to trying to capture more oxygen and trying to keep us alive. Or it will make the veins collapse. This is what happens when cancer patients take certain drugs to rid their body of the disease that is consuming them. Imagine trying this on normal people who have no disease, cancer. Now to pretty to think about is it.

Now think about the animals, same scenario. Those that are left alive would be very ill and we may not be able to eat them anyway.

Drinking water may be a problem as it may take up to 2 years for it to filter thru. Plants would also suffer in some aspects as the plant absorbs radioactive isotopes. That could leave the trees and plants unable to eat and we may not be able to touch them as well.

The scenarios on this are never ending. And if you think that our Union would be able to help us…. Think again. They would be more prone to leave us due to the Fallout. It would be 1000 times worse then just a volcano blowing.

I didn’t write this blog to scare people, but to think beyond the box and the scope of range. We are part of the United States. But if it came down to it, would the Government of the United States help us if something like this tragic scenario came to life? I don’t think it would happen.

You know I look around and see people and wonder. I wonder a lot. And I don’t understand which isn’t unusual.

Alaskans have a different spirit then most on the U.S. and even more independent then people will ever understand to reason. We have more of the Don’t Tread on Me spirit… most of us can all differ in opinion but can come to almost the same conclusion or at least have some type of respect on their political affiliations. But true Alaskans, will come together if it is for the State or the People who live here. We are all we have, and many of us understand that.

That is why it perplexes me on why some people hate others. I can say I don’t hate anyone. I don’t even hate muslims, detest them… hate no. I can get upset, mad, pissed, frustrated, annoyed, and irritated but I don’t hate people. There are more middle of the road people who just want to be left alone. I don’t blame them at all and can see the harmony in it, except that I do not want our Government to be left to its destructive mode, which is has been in over drive it seems. And the Media is also a driving force in this.

I have some liberal friends. We can get into good debates on this or that… of course one of my friends is an Obama head, so I have to keep it light with him. But we don’t become destructive since it doesn’t help but will hinder. What I mean by destructive, is we don’t hurt anyone whether it be talking down, money, property etc. You just don’t do that as all of my friends agree… Karma is a Bitch!

Alaska is a small State, as many of you have figured out. Many people know each other… a very small town community type atmosphere. If you are rude, you will be treated as such probably for the rest of your time here. That is how it is up here. Many won’t down play the event, they will call it like they see it. They are starting to see it…. And they are starting to call it out.

OCS and Conocophillips... and the people who don't care

On too another thread concerning OCS.

Just arriving home, I went to KTUU and ADN for anymore updates on the OCS ruling. OilDrum doesn't seem to be showing much interest in this.

KTUU did a small story concerning the Economic Future of OCS and the State. The economist who did the interview is correct. But what KTUU nor the economics teacher didn't happen to mention was if the OCS drilling is totally and completely shut off Conocophillips will be closing down their offices, other then a Production office and moving back to Texas... as well as laying off quite a few people.

BP may also do start shutting down offices and possibly well if it gets nasty concerning BLM. The Federal Government is screwing not only these Oil Comps, who will leave this State, but Alaskans who work in the oil industry.

Exxon may not drill Pt Thomson due to being right next to the ANWR boarder.

You know what could happen:

The Federal Government may be sued again... but this time by a State Government. For bankrupting Alaska which had a lively hood that was thriving due to domestic oil, fishing and tourism... but due to the rising costs of everything could not afford to have more land taken by the BLM. The Commercial Fisherman were sued by the environmentalists for over processing fish. And Tourism slowed because it had become to expensive to come up here and view the Last Frontier... so the cruise ships left and in their wake the communities died. The Permanent Fund is gone as it was taken via the Legislature for community expenses throughout the State. And people left in droves.

Could you see that happening? I can.

I have about had it concerning any environmental propaganda and people who work with them. I am all for Wildlife Conservation, but when you go to this length to stop something you really don’t know anything about, it makes me wonder about the diversity you have for animals or is it the complete ignorant ideals on one self concerning something way beyond the scope of your world.

Here is the PDF on the OCS drilling and why the Appeals Courts stopped it. The main petitioner is the Center for Biological Diversity and old "rules and regulations" that have been superseded via other updated regulations, yet the courts didn't check into the background. What is interesting is how this area of their website called "Cleaning up the Bush Legacy" actually shows how incompetent this organization is due to the fact many of the regulations and rulings were before the "Bush" administration. The ESA (Environmental Species Act) was way before the Bush Administration. It was started in 1973 under....Nixon. Tricky Dick was tricked!

As I read the petition, I noted in it Point Hope, again, but in the petition they are listed as a Federally recognized Native Government. I didn't realize that Point Hope was a Government! Hmmmm I wonder how many other Villages know that either. If you read my other blog thread. You would have seen what I wrote about Point Hope and their "residents". I wouldn't put these people in charge of a dog, as irresponsible they are. It also shows on page 11 that the area is a "Sovereigns State" which hasn't even been approved yet by the Supreme Court even after almost 20 yrs. Someone please explain to me where in Alaska that there are sovereigns states inside this state? Metlataska is supposedly one, but they still play the Alaska game. Other then Metlataska, not anywhere that I know of. And they are basing everything on climate change? Oh Dear God... if you have a community placed on a tidal spit ... eventually the ocean will take that area back. It isn't called climate change, it is called Mother Nature.

What makes this even more of a joke, is the Defenders of Wildlife are all over this ruling. If anyone knows anything about the Alaska Defenders of Wildlife, is the man who is their Representative, Wade Willis, is actually a hunter himself. How do I know? He was at the 2009 Board of Game meetings and told me so himself. Interesting. SO you will go hunt Bears, but you can want to defend them as well? How hypocritical is that? Since most Bear hunts are baiting hunts. WOW!

Maybe I should get a hold of MMS and let them know what is going on. Hypocrites shouldn't be taken for their word!

The OCS ruling and what might happen in Alaska.

This has got to be a freaking lost cause day. As this week has not been much better.

After playing on HotAir on some good blog threads with both Allah and Ed and everyone else having a good time this Friday, when I got the news that the three Judges have closed the OCS drilling in Alaska. For now, and at no time will it be known if it will be reopen.

WHAT!?!??! Are they JOKING!?!?! WHY??????????? Do they not realize that this is one of the life’s blood of Alaska? Of other States as well? Tourism is going to be going down this year and these stupid judges decide to do this? Can’t they just leave things alone? Ugh! Other then these Alaskan fishermen (Commercial) who have over 90% of the harvesting on salmon and other fish or seafood products, can’t seem to understand that one day the EPA and environmentalists will be taking their lively hoods as well.

As Per ADN:

WASHINGTON -- A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the Bush administration
didn't adequately study the environmental impact of expanding oil and gas
drilling off the Alaska coast, a finding that many of Alaska's leaders reacted
to with dismay.

So I decided to look into the ruling and who the people were.

MMS (Mineral Management Service) is the Dept. that is in charge of OCS, for the Dept of the Interior. Many people mix this Dept with the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) which is also part of the Dept of the Interior. So how this started was an Alaska Environmental Studies Program in which the MMS was to begin and have a Environmental Impact Study concerning OCS items as well as coastal and marine environment. The only problem is, that the appeals court in Washington D.C. found MMS Leasing in violation. But they found it in violation of supposed non-effective EIS standards, per the Bush administration. I am not sure what they want, but an appeals court can't really say why, they can only say yes and move it up to the Supreme Court. or they can say no and have the lawyers try for another appeal.

Now this is what is interesting. I have read and keep reading how there are many Native Villages whom are suing the MMS. One would be Point Hope. This was the same Point Hope that slaughtered countless Caribou on the North Slope and now have some charged in those wanton killings. Please notice the baby Caribou, trying to suckle the dead Mother. Yeah... these people are just great for society! These are also some of the same people who want the Federal Government to give them "renewable energy" as they are on a tidal area and their homes are washing away to what they say is "Global Warming". You all can make up your own minds on how many Alaskans feel about this Village and it's residents right now.

I am waiting on a definitive concerning this. I have friends on the Industry up here as well as the government entities and i am going to be gleaning information off of them. But this is another downfall for Alaska... and it may possibly spread down south.

W.A.R. and a Poll

It is interesting to have sat thru the extremely bad buffering and having to relink continuously to the W.A.R. feed today, just to hear the Legislators grandstand on both sides. Overall, W.A.R. lost, but I think there is more behind it then the game of “playing politics’.

Hollis French seemed to be the worst. French’s attempt at scathing comments on women to more or less saying that Ross was a blathering idiot. French should talk; the man actually said if he was in the wrong he would apologize. French, we are still waiting for the apology from months ago. You know the one, French. Concerning the stupid Troopergate fiasco that last months and months. Or how about that “surprise” that really wasn’t. French you are seriously a joke.

KTUU is doing one of the non-scientific polls. It is concerning Ross and the Legislature and was it Qualifications or Payback. I think you already know the answer.

Letting Sarah breath.

You know I have been a huge supporter of Sarah’s even before anyone knew about her outside of Alaska. I brought her up as a possible VP candidate (including a fellow blog commenter Oink) on a few blogs I frequented, and everyone who was anyone told me it wasn’t going to happen, it was insane, that would be stupid and ignorant. Interesting how the tides turn.

People began to look into Sarah, research her, and check the background. They liked her style, wit, humor, values and everyday persona of being a normal person whom decided to take the State of Alaska back FOR the people who live in Alaska. They also liked how she saw money, taxes, what was to be expected of those who worked with and for her. The common sense approach seemed her style. The way she negotiated rules, regulations and the outcome of taxes on oil and gas which is in part all Alaskans right.

People began to put her on a pedestal and that is where it began to bother me. After the section for POTUS, McCain’s loss and Palins move back to Alaska and beyond. People have begun to think of her more then just a person, but an answer to the madness. Their idea of a Reagan renewal and uprising.

Since the start she has been attacked, stabbed in the back, hung out to dry, told that she is a unfit parent, a cruel person for having a disabled child, to ignorant to run a Government agency of any sort. Yet she seems to have been doing quite a fair job from many Alaskans view.

So, with that said, you are probably wondering why I am ranting in this fashion.

Well, it is bothering me that Sarah has become this pariah. Why does it bother me? Because everyone is human! She is just one person and being the fact that she seems to be doing well under fire, hounded to run for President as well as be the perfect conservative. Understand, Sarah WILL be Sarah, but giving her a little breathing room is needed. No one is perfect. Yet, being told that you MUST be this way when the view you have is just a tad different then the standard is and can be detrimental to the group wanting someone to be on the straight and narrow.

You are probably upset, pissed... whatever the case may be. I am in no way putting down Sarah or her abilities. But I often wonder what people think concerning people whom think this person will happen to be their saving grace. Look at Obama.... Sarah is NOT like that.

As I told a friend of mine on the internet: Alaskans do not like to be told what to do. It is boiling down to many around the Nation doing just that, telling Sarah what to do. If these people keep it up…. Sarah may just back away totally. This isn’t a warning, this is the truth.

Anchorage Tea Party

Oil, Salazar and the Tea Party

I sit here a day before the first annual Tea Party across the Nation event. I wonder what is going to happen across the Nation, much less in Alaska.

Salazar is here in Anchorage right now. He may be here tomorrow, as I haven’t heard any news yet. As of right now, that I just heard, there are quite a few PRO-OIL-Protesting people in front of the Dena’ina Center while Salazar is talking about offshore drilling.

Most of Alaska is for drilling. ANWR, Federal Offshore, Natural Gas drilling and a Natural Gas Pipeline bullet line is in the works for the State as well. Not many here do not see any disadvantages on drilling, unless they are environmental wacko’s who come up here concerning the whales, polar bears, multiple birds, or caribou. It is pretty sad when British Petroleum can do a definitive research report on the whales or polar bears better then the Dept of Interior Environmental Affairs.

But with Salazar up here in Alaska, will the Tea Party be worse or better then those in the lower 49, since Salazar will be up here and is not a welcomed person? I am not sure, but I will be taking pictures of the outcome here in Anchorage.

My View on why the American Dems hate Sarah Palin..

It isn't hard to understand that there are those who do not like Sarah. Why? I don't really know why, but I can tell you why some Alaskans can't stand her and their petty reasoning behind it.

When Sarah first took office, it was like a breath of fresh air. You could walk around and not have the lingering of the oppressive Murkowski agenda wavering in the wind due to the Oil and Gas tax meetings, as well as the fact the nasty attitude towards any and all constituents. The closed door meetings of all kinds were now open, and the fact that Sarah was at least opening up to the public and explaining the reasoning behind her agenda was nice. There were always those whom hated her, from the start. Hollis French would be one due to his friend, Berkowitz being over taken in an election landslide. But I wander....

The first thing Sarah did was start cutting the budget... and I do mean cut. She took money away from parks, the museum, resources that actually turned out not to do much of anything. That ticked off the hippie's from the start. How DARE she take from the parks and recreations of Alaska! All I could think of was why not use volunteers, to take charge of the areas. It works on roads, smaller parks and playgrounds and reduces the spending on tax payers who do not use all the areas due to difficult work schedules or unavailability of the area in general. But no, that is too much common sense.

The second item was for the legislature to also slash their budgets and to make sure that whatever they requested for that upcoming year be worth the money put into it. That was a blow to them, as they were use to big spending and being able to get almost everything their little hearts desired, even if it wasn't exactly for their district but to help a "Friends" district. So they tried to reach a compromise with Sarah giving her a list of items they were willing to give up. Well Sarah knew better and asked the Dept of Revenue to get a copy of all the legislatures requests and while using a yellow highlighter, took the trivial requests that the Legislators wanted. That made most of these Senators upset. Though many of them got over them, the rest have made a personal vendetta against her since this first slashing. Sarah also slashed all of the State of Alaska's budgets, down to the pens, paper and other office items. They are now all on a mandatory budget which is actually working.

Third, implementing the Ethics for all employees, including the Legislators themselves. WHOA! The Legislators have to be ethical! They even have to sign a disclosure and can NOT be a legislature if they are a lobbiest as well. That means, that anyone who is a Legislator and works as a lobbiest can not run, and must step down. They also had to do a financial disclosure like you wouldn't believe. It is called APOC and anyone who is not considered Administrative, must fill one out per the Regulations of their department or if you are or work for a Legislator. Pretty nice huh! This has never been in place..... and those who say it has don't know the whole story. So if this is expansion of Government, I have no problems with it.

But as to why they hate Sarah. Alaskans are odd... they are the type to tell you don't tell me how to do it. But they don't mind explaining stuff. Sarah hasn't taken away rights that I know of. Sarah has put into offices those that most of these individuals can't stand. That would be the main reason. The people put into a position of power are usually hated by the individuals that don't like Sarah. Monegan was one that many couldn't stand. He was supposedly a reformer who didn't reform. And when he quit due to his own screw up and blamed it on Sarah when Hollis French told him to do so, and all the while the people believed Monegan was fired. The News Agencies also didn't help around town.

The Media had quite a bit to do with Alaskans hating Sarah. They actually believed all the crap that was being said. I remember a few times how I would correct my friends on what was going on. They began to stop listening to the news and asking me what was going on if it concerned Sarah, as they know I wouldn't lie. Alaskans aren't gullible, but we never really paid attention to the lower 49 unless it was something big and tragic. So I don't blame many of them for not knowing that the Alaskans were pawns in their chess moves. They also hate Sarah for many other reasons, from assuming that the city or town they live in has something wrong with it because they do not totally understand Government structures. Forgive us Alaskans, as we aren't in the new.... until now, and many of us wish the lime light would go away.

More bad news on Alaska's Missle Defense

As reported via KTUU: Palin expressed concern over budget cuts.

This is going to be a problem. Alaska and Hawaii are both in danger. We do not have the same type of defenses as the lower 48. Hawaii being an island and Alaska being an island off the coast of Canada.... we have no way of getting to our family or friends if something does happen.

I am worried. Actually this isn't just worrying me, but it makes my stomach hurt thinking that Alaska and Hawaii are going to be sitting ducks. Gates is an idiot! WHY should Alaska and Hawaii take cuts when we are not part of the Continental United States. It is like we are the Bastard Children of the Union!

The question is, what can we do now?

Break up in Alaska....

Happy Easter Everyone!

So I was driving back home from a little town called Talkeetna today and was thinking about Easter and how nice that Break Up is FINALLY here in Alaska.

For those who do not know what "Break Up" is, it is Alaska spring. It is at times very short, sometimes it is long (a month or so) but no matter who you are in Alaska, it is a welcome sight other then snow. How do you know it is break up in Alaska? Well the real reason they call it break up here is because of the rivers, streams or any bodies of water. The ice begins to break up, and the water begins to start free flowing again. The snows melts fast.... think of 2 foot of snow in your yard and it is almost gone in a matter of days. Another sign is usually the seagulls come back. I saw them as of last Wednesday, so I know that is a sure sign. Lets hope that summer will be better then last year. As it was one of the 5th coldest on record since it has been recorded here in Alaska. Break up also has a "aroma" that many don't like. It smells like wet mud and dog poop. True but a fact of life up here. If you can't scoop your poop, due to the fact 2 ft of snow has fallen, most people aren't going to go digging for it. So you have poop soup around town until the water resides enough.

Break Up is also a time to get your stuff straight before the "Fishing Season". Trust me, no one plays with the salmon when they start trickling into the streams and rivers around Alaska. You won't see me blogging much then either. I am a fish-o-holic. I love catching King, Silver and Red salmon. Pinks I smoke, as they aren't the best to eat like the other, but that is my opinion. Now what I mean by getting your stuff straight, is extreme spring cleaning. You don't want to be home cleaning whatever it is, when you know of a run of salmon.

Many people in Anchorage do what they call suicide runs to the Kenai and Russian Rivers. What that is, is when you get off work (say around 5 PM) you have everything packed for the 120 mile drive down to the river(s). You get our gear on, bag your limit and drive back home. The reason it is also called suicide runs is because some people were so tired after fishing, bagging the limit of salmon and driving back, they can be up almost 24 hours and have driven off roads and in some cases have had head on collisions. The picture you are looking at is when I went to the Russian River area, and that is called Combat Fishing. Most of the Alaskans know how to get inbetween the people and "flip". But you always have some knucklehead who thinks they are some God to fishing and won't let you in. I can't help myself when I see people like this (usually men who are 18 - 45) and show them up with my fishing skills. Not many of my friends will bet me anymore, they usually lose. And you always have that ONE hot head who gets his panties in a wad when you tell them to back off. If you have ever heard stories of people cutting lines, well I am one of those infamous people who will, but I only do it if there is a reason. I have only had one guy freak out on me... but after 2 hours of dealing with his crappy attitude and him constantly getting tangled in MY line which he blamed me for, I had it. And CUT his line. He didn't know I also had my .40 cal under my rain coat and decided he wanted to try to kick my ass. I bring a gun due to the bears, but for some people like this, it is a good idea to keep one around to "adjust" attitudes. The man came after me (and I am the only female in a 100 foot radius on the bank) and I whipped the side of my jacket my gun was on and told him to either back away or else. He say the light... but got pissy and went to grab a Fish and Game cop. Now this cracks me up, as in Alaska you can have a gun, and do not have to have a CCL up here. Especially in areas like the Russian where it is full of bears. The F&G guy laughed at the man who called him... and back to fishing I went. The F&G guy also said that if jerk kept bothering me, to give him a call and handed me his card. Awesome! I gotta new friend. But the other guys who saw this clown being a clown, told him to move on. They were also tired of the BS. Gotta love Alaskans!

So, if you ever decide to come up to Alaska to go fishing. Make sure to contact me..... I promise it is never a dull moment when I go fishing!

Good Friday in Alaska, isn't exactly good.

As the header says Alaska hasn't really had it share of luck on the Friday before Easter Sunday. The 1964 earthquake that devastated the State and rocked it to it's core, as well as the tsunamis that took out many different small fishing villages on the coast and literally swallowed Seward and Valdez.

KTUU did a good story on this dreaded day. But in 1964, March 27Th was Good Friday, not today April 10Th. The USGS has some interesting pictures and shows where the fault lines were and why it turned out to be one of the most Historic earthquakes to actually be recorded in American history.

I am not old enough to have been in the 1964. But I have been in the Washington Feb. 28th, 2001 as the Nov. 3 2002 7.9 earthquake in Alaska. Honestly though, no one can ever be truly prepared for one.

Missiles and why Alaska needs them.

Not many people know about the missiles around Anchorage and why we needed them back when. On top of a mountain on Arctic Valley road in Anchorage on Ft. Richardson/Federal Land, there is an old missile silo and buildings that use to hold Nike missiles. This was built way back in 1950's, due to the fact that the Army at that time knew how precarious Alaska was and how they wouldn't be able to help if any type of attack was instigated. The Nike Missile site hasn't been used since 1979 and was abandoned but it a national and historic site. The Nike Missile locations were for Soviet (and any other missile) invasion and missile interception. But after the supposed end of the cold war, it didn't seem like we needed them. Or so the Federal Government thought.

Since Alaska hadn't really had a defense against attack. Other then F-15's from Elmendorf and Eielson AFB, we were more sitting ducks in the water. But around 2001, Bush 43 decided that it would be in the best interest of all to begin another defense shield at Ft Greely, Alaska just in case anything would arise in the process. 9/11 was the deciding factor.

Since then Ft. Greely as well as the Kodiak Alaska Aerospace Development Corp. and Shemya , Alaska due to the Navy's special Radar for monitoring "traffic" in the northern part of the Hemisphere, due to those pesky little Russian Planes and Japanese tankers coming through the Bering Straights, the liberals all over screamed we didn't need these items. Oh Really!

If we did not have the Shemya Radar, the F-15's and F-22's we would have never known how far the Russian bomber planes had actually come into Alaskan Air Space. Ft Greely also went on the defensive. Elmendorf, Eielson, Ft. Richardson and Ft Wainwright readied a first wave of Soldiers .... just in case. This is also not including the Alaska National Guard. It is interesting how so many people can scream about something on land 1/3rd the size of the Continental United States, due to lack of concept as they can not wrap their little minds around it, nor the fact we are an island in many respects.

In 1942, the Japanese invaded Alaska. Not many people know that or care as Alaska was a Territory. But how many people realize that Hawaii was also a Territory and bombed just the same. So how can shutting down the missile defense in Alaska be good? Palin is making an outward appeal, but I hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears as usual. History can be repeated and I am sure that it won't be the Japanese Troops this time around.

Alaska Politics, Around the State and in the Biggest City

So here I am, sick as a dog from a severe head cold and looking at the Mayoral results from the Anchorage primary race and shaking my head. Dan Sullivan and Eric Croft are the runners for the May election. Joy! A wannabe conservative and a conservative democrat. What are the odds in Anchorage?

Croft and Sullivan going for a run off in Anchorage bothers me. Sullivan has shown he wants to tax the heck out of Anchorage. Why? A conservative knows that taxes do not help in general and will always make the Government greedy in any case. It also won't slow down the rate of taxes vrs the inflow of cash. Sullivan knows this as he was the one who headed the cigarette tax in Anchorage leading Anchorage the top for taxes concerning it. Croft is many ways conservative on spending but has some pot crack ideas on what a city should do. So what should Anchorage do? Vote on a man who wants to tax us supposedly to "relieve" our property burden or a liberal with weird ideas on how to run a city? I am at a loss myself.

As for Ted Stevens. I am glad he has been vindicated. Yeah he screwed up, by letting people take advantage of him in many ways. But who hasn't done that sometime during their brief stint here on Earth? He said that he had lost his faith but it was restored in the justice system. I am not so sure about that, he might be saying it as a way to show that he can forgive and possibly run again for Senator. I am glad that the Democratic Judge is going to be prosecuting the Prosecutors. I called this out on HotAir on numerous occasions fighting with Allah that the Prosecutors had not given the Defense ALL the evidence. But of course I was ignored, being the "little" Alaskan as usual.

Begich is know to be a complete fool, and you can see it as he voted for that stimulus package. Begich left Anchorage with 17 million in debt, when he left for the Senate, in which not even our Assembly knew about how in debt Anchorage was. How inept are these people?

Begich also won't step down. Interesting since he received money for the Obama Campaign to run against Stevens. Who is saying what is politically motivated? Begich also happens to have a small "incident" which shows he is as much a liar as any democrat.

So here I am, the little conservative as usual, wondering how exactly this will turn out.

People of a varying shade of black

I have seen quite a few Alaskan Bloggers on the Internet. It makes me smile as I know most of these "bloggers" haven't left the confines of the Anchorage Bowl (if they actually are telling the truth). Most of them are extremely liberal in many ways. They also say that are of libertarian type... which means to me that they want to smoke pot without recourse.

Celtic Diva asked a friend of mine on a possible protest for a Fallen Soldier who was to have a Funeral in Fairbanks, Alaska. The friend emailed back that is was rumored, that is was against the family of the Fallen and the times/dates of the protest. But Celtic misquoted my Friend, and said that it was also going to be a gay protest. It brought people into the "Flag Line" for the Family but I am not sure if it showed respect for the Family but more a way of showing their "flair". I honestly do not care if people are gay or not, it isn't my problem. But when you go to a quiet, anti-protesting and to show respect to the Family of a KIA Soldier you do not stand there to prove a different point!

I have also noticed the other "liberal" bloggers around. One called akmudflat or something like that, is a complete waste of time. It talks the talk but yet never walks the walk. Goes to "rallies" but yet acts the part of the loser in the rough. Interesting how some people are so narcissistic, that is makes people shy away.

Nothing any of the liberals in Alaska, Anchorage especially, makes me wonder anymore. If you know anything about Alaska politics you know it is looking like someone wrote a book on how to sabotage other people's name, ideals and future without getting caught. If everyone actually would do this at everything going on against all things, then the world would be totally non-viable.

So should we as a group of tired and annoyed individuals, start doing the same as those whom do it to those individuals trying to make a difference and change things for the better? It is something that one should ponder.....

Stepping back

Sometimes you have to take a step back and assess the damage before you can go forward.

Right now it is interesting. The Volcano is still bellowing, especially when the USGS downgrades it. It makes me smile that even with all the new gadgets that the USGS have, they can't figure out that this is probably one of the times that the Mt. Redoubt is just going to spew for a while.

Also, Ted Stevens is being told that he is a free man due to shoddy evidence. I have said on other political blogs that this would happen, yet no one believed me it seems. The courts have released other men whom have had more evidence stacked against them then Ted Stevens had. It was inevitable that it would happen. Yet the pundits were adamant that Stevens would be put in jail. Guess they should have listened to the Alaskan telling them it wouldn't happen.

With that, it seems that Governor Palin, the Republican Party of Alaska, the Libertarian who ran against Stevens and Begich in the 2008 election and quite a few democrats who voted for Begich want a Special Election. Reason being would be extreme National Media bias. What a concept huh! Who would have thought that one up or guessed that might be the motive. Begich has said he won't step down, but there is a petition to get Begich to either step down or there will be a special election to take care of him altogether. The People of Alaska are not happy with him, and it isn't a mistake that they wish Begich out specially after voting for the Stimulus Package that Alaskans don't want. Other then the Dept of Transportation projects to create new jobs and to build new roads, the only thing Alaskans want is the education part of the Stimulus package, which won't create new jobs. Personally I don't want it. All it will do is hurt the People of Alaska more now with items and forums that will go on the way side after the money runs out as there will be no new teachers hired. But since Begich voted on this pork-o-roma bill that is nothing but a National drain on everything considered American, why would people still want him in there. 60 Days later and he has screwed himself without any one's help.

Interesting perspective on how things are going on up here. But what can you do with lies, deception and deceit? Build on it and move on from it? No, you have to break it away and start anew. Alaska is going to be in the Media spot light again.... and unfortunately sooner then later.

Volcano's, fact of life.

Living here in South Central, you get use to the weird natural events of mother nature. Small flooding in areas aren't uncommon. Snow Storms to us are what you call blizzards in the lower 49. Avalanches are normal. Earthquakes are pretty common as Alaska has the most in the world. But Volcano's are kind of a special breed of natural occurance.

A few days ago, Mt. Redoubt blew and has kept blowing. Quite a few people were taken back (these are the newbies moved up here from outta State) by what they thought would be the end of the world. Others, like myself, just shrugged our shoulders and kept moving as this is just life in Alaska. Mt. Redoubt isn't usually a ash type volcano, and doesn't usually stay active for long.

Now the newbies of Alaska were worried about many items. Would my power shut off, would my well stop working (many have water wells) or my septic, would I be able to eat, what do I do if it is on my house/vehicle/sled(snowmachine)/etc, what if my animal eats the snow? What do you say to these people?

In times like this you just sit back and watch the happenings. Ash is harmful but isn't the end of the world. You wash your vehicle and do NOT use the windshield wipers until you do wash it. If you have ash on your house, you wait for spring 9as there is still a bunch of snow on the ground) and water down your roof. If you animals eat the snow, make sure to have plenty of fresh water for them... as ash is abrasive. And if you want to be sure they are okay, you give them some bread so the ash won't hurt their stomach or intestines. Everyone should have some water somewhere in their house or apartment for emergancyies as well as batteries for flashlights or candles. Also, new airfilters for the vehicles you own is always a good thing. The one thing I would worry about in the winter for something like this would be that your waterlines freeze. Then you might have a problem.

Today I start the front in Alaska

Interesting how sometimes you have to begin the fight at home. I have fought the fight about Alaska at other places, on other blogs, at different times. But I never did think I would have to begin the fight here in my own back yard due to the magnitude of individuals now moving and living in my State.

They bring the baggage of where they left from, and try to impliment it here. I am tired of it.

I grew up here in Alaska, brought up as a child due to the military. I have lived here most of my life and have decided this is the only place to be. I fish to my hearts content, legally. I am hunting now and learning more then I ever thought I could. The range is endless up here but the laws are pilling up. The individuals coming up here have no clue about the magnitude of this State. Nor the Politics associated with it.

I hope I can explain to you all how Alaska works. How the politics are becoming stagnant and what can be done. I hope this is educational for you all as well as insightful.

Just remember, I am not perfect and can't promise I will spell correctly or have a great dialect. But if you can bare with me and ask what i mean, I will do what I can to explain what I can!
